Vacation Village in the Berkshires

Good choice of accommodations in the Berkshires

My husband and I stayed at Vacation Village in the Berkshires for a long weekend getaway in late November. We’ve been here a few times before and we’re surprised and disappointed to be charged a $25 resort fee. Upon further research, I found the fee is stated in the resort info. But as an RCI owner we’ve never been charged a resort fee at any timeshare resort we’ve exchanged to. After all, what are maintenance fees for. The resort fee covers things like DVD rentals (one free/day or 2 if you’re in a 2 bedroom lockout unit), use of the indoor pool and fitness room, none of which did we use.

The pool is directly off the lobby so there’s no privacy from guests checking in.

The fireplaces in the units are a joke. Electric with artificial-looking flames and no warmth generated. Not what I was expecting.

Two bedroom units are separate lockouts, two separate one-bedroom units. Great for privacy if two couples or two families are sharing a unit because each unit has a separate bathroom, kitchen and living room. My husband and I like a two-bedroom unit even for just the two of us because they’re usually larger and have two bathrooms. The way these are set up leaves both units with smaller than average living rooms and kitchens. We didn’t even use the other unit.

All in all, we enjoyed our stay. It’s a beautiful area and we’d like to return during warmer weather when the road to the summit of Mt Greylock is open. The My Greylock visitor centre is close by and I recommend a visit. The Shaker Village is also a great destination
