Lovely holiday at the Pestana Grand
We have just arrived back in the UK after a lovely holiday in Madeira
We stayed at the Pestana Grand and are delighted we chose this hotel……it had been recommended by friends and they were not wrong
Our room, classic double with sea view, was excellent….very spacious and with a lovely balcony and great view
The bathroom was great and the shower superb…….plenty of towels and the bed was comfy too !!…..the only thing they could improve on is the TV, which is an old type and could do with being modernised, especially as the hotel is a five star
The food is really good……breakfast buffet is quite simply fabulous…..so much choice and everything cooked fresh
We only ate once in the evening at the hotel which was the Madeira buffet one night……this was great too with again plenty of choice
The staff are tremendous……everyone was polite and very very helpful……a special mention to Dina in reception (my favourite !,!), she was very efficient and helpful…..also to Ricardo in the bar …he was brilliant too…..plus Pedro and Danilo in the pool bar…..also very good indeed although Pedro needs to stop touching the tv !!!!……..very funny when we were watching the England game the other night and he tried to turn the sound up and the tv post connection for a few mins……he quickly sorted it !!!
The housekeeping ladies were excellent as well…..our room was always very clean and our lady was very polite and nothing was too much trouble
The hotel is brilliantly sited on the edge of the sea……a lovely setting
The pool area is excellent…..plenty of beds and shade umbrellas and the pool staff also very good indeed….again Pedro very helpful and obliging
The hotel organises a free courtesy bus every day …. it runs every hour or so from 9 am until 6 pm……my only suggestion would be to ctenophore this till 10 ish as that would be very helpful as Funchal is too far to walk in and back at night……but it is only a 10 Euro taxi ride
If you can, take an electric powered rickshaw from Funchal back to the hotel…..it was great
Overall a fantastic hotel and I am sure we will visit again
