Disgusting

Myself and my partner decided to book a cottage at Moness Resort along with a two treatments at the Spa. We were really looking forward to having a relaxing couple of days away, however, this is far from what we experienced. Moness Resort is extremely run down and looks like it as never been refurbished since it opened.

The cottage was clean but very dated and the rose petals which my partner had arranged to be on the bed on arrival were dead, yes they had genuinely scattered dead rose petals on our bed.

The first day we had our Spa treatements and on arrival we were told to head down and use the “spa facilities” before our therapists were ready. I walked into the changing rooms and was taken aback by an awful stench which I can only describe as a mixture of wet dog and feces.

I then observed clumps of hair on the floor, toilet roll and mould on the floor and walls. (If you want to save your feet from the grime then you have to pay £3 for flip flops from the spa).

My partners towel had very dubious brown/yellow marks on it as well. The pool area is also very dated and needs a good deep clean by the look of it.

We had a 2 second dip on the pool and then tried the steam room out, the roof was covered in mould and was dripping onto the floor so we then decided to head out and wait somewhere slightly more hygienic before our treatments. We both had the back, neck and shoulder massage which were actually very good and relaxing.

As part of the spa deal you get lunch included which is up at the “terrace” restaurant.

The menu left a lot to be desired, I’m not quite sure who decided macaroni and chips or a fish finger sandwich were good options for a post spa meal? The restaurant itself was bare, slightly depressing and there were a number of flies. After our resort experience, we decided to just stay in the cottage for the night and cook our own meal.

The following morning we decided to get up early and head home as soon as we could. My partner went to check out and voice our disappointment with the facilities. He was ushered away to the spa manager who apologised but was unable to do anything without speaking to the director.

The manager called the director who refused to speak to my partner and said that there was absolutely no way that we would get a discount or any compensation for the horrendous experience.
Will definitely not be back to Moness Resort and I urge anyway who is looking for a relaxing break not to book this place.
