Marriott’s Newport Coast Villas

Worst Marriott Stay EVER

I have never posted a negative review of any Marriott but in this case feel that I have to. I am a Platinum Elite Marriott Rewards Member and Executive Level with MVC and it meant nothing to the staff or even the General Manager of this property. Our unit was filthy with a broken dishwasher, broken freezer, and a bedroom door falling off the hinges.

We travelled thousands of miles to have an ocean view and instead were looking at trees.

We went to the desk every morning 6 days in a row and they refused to move us saying they were just too busy.

The General Manager and front desk staff flat out lied after they had over 80 checkouts one morning and they still said they didn’t have any open units to move us to.

The General Manager lied to me again claiming that only 10% of the units have an ocean view and I should have requested that specifically before arrival. We DID request an ocean view 2 months prior to our stay!

The next day a different front desk agent said only 30% of the units had an ocean view conflicting with the General Manager’s lie. If you just look at the property from the beach you can see that over 50% of the units have an ocean view. Total joke, terrible stay, and the worst part was the unaccommodating staff members.

I called Marriott Vacation Club corporate to complain about our situation and our stay and they said there was nothing they could do. But I did get offered a FREE tote bag if I would listen to a presentation and buy even more Marriott Vacation Club Points. Are you kidding me? How embarrassing this should be to Marriott Vacation Club and Marriott in general.
