Marriott’s Barony Beach Club

We are Vacation Club Owners and swapped into the Barony for a trip to HHI. This is our third trip to HHI and our first and last at Barony. Before we booked/swapped we looked at the Barony Marriott site and saw it said ‘Atlantic Ocean on-site’ so we were pretty excited.

We called and asked about the possibility of getting oceanfront and were told to arrive early for our best chance. We got here at 12:00 and were asked to wait- we did until the normal check-in time of 4 and they then placed us in the Garden Villas- across the street, beyond the Westin, with no direct beach access. We were told we could ride a tram to the beach from our building.

We have small children and elderly parents, so riding a tram would be great- if there were less of us or more trams- so we ended up walking the 15 minutes to the beach. We also had to walk to the main buildings (15 min) for all the activities and to be near the pool with the restaurant and the bar.

The only activities on our side was a kid putting challenge and a smores making thing.

When we complained, our complaints were dismissed because the actual Barony owners get preference of oceanfront and the beach villas- all others including rentals and timeshare swaps get the crappy garden villas.

We were considering buying another week, but after this experience, it WILL NOT be with Marriott.
