Four Seasons Country Club

Wonderful Villa in a quiet location

We went for a week over Christmas and loved this resort with only a few minor reservations.

Transfer times are a doddle. We contacted the hotel before arriving and they sorted a private taxi for me, my wife and our eight year old daughter. Approximately 20 mins door to door in a fairly new Mercedes.

Reception, very clean, nicely decorated but leads to minor complaint number one. The reception staff are just not friendly. It’s not that they do anything bad it’s just they never smiled at us or wished us a happy holiday or asked us if we’d enjoyed ourselves when we checked out. All minor points really.

Villa. The absolutely best thing about our whole holiday. We booked a T3 (I think) which is a three bathroom, two bedroom villa. The kitchen is well appointed and has everything you’d need for a month long stay let alone a week. Good size fridge and freezer, coffee machine, dishwasher, washing machine, tumble dryer, orange juicer, kettle, toaster, four ring halogen, oven and microwave. The heating and cooling system was perfect and warmed the place up in minutes. There was also a lovely real flame fire that is fed with pellets automatically from a reservoir in the top. We had a view over a lawned area and the golf practice range. All the rooms were a good size and the showers had plenty of power. Good outside space with sun loungers and patio furniture. There’s also a balcony off the main bedroom. It was cleaned every day even Christmas day which took us by surprise. The fridge was full of mold when we arrived but a call to reception and 20 mins later it was spotless.

Indoor pool, very warm and a good range of depths with a roped off kids area. It’s booked out to water aerobics 10-11am every day. The bar provides plastic glasses if you want a drink around the pool.
There’s an over 14’s hot tub/jacuzzi which seats about 6 or 8.

Bar area. Absolutely lovely especially when the log fire is roaring away. They seem to show most of the main premiership games and something I thought was a good idea is they cover the TV with a picture within minutes of the match finishing. There’s a reasonably sized multi-language lending library just ask reception for the key. The bar staff are brilliant, very welcoming and attentive. There’s a couple of full size snooker tables as well. We got the feeling there were a lot of long term returning visitors as the bar staff were always greeting someone as if they’d been coming for years. Another compliment to the resort I’d say. The bar snacks are very filling and tasty. They also have a selection of cocktails available as well. They also do ice creams and milkshakes if you ask.

Restaurant. We only used the restaurant for Christmas dinner. Again the staff were great and the food well cooked and delicious. We did come away from the meal thinking it was expensive for what it was but I guess everything costs more Christmas day. About 200 euros for the three of us including a couple of drinks.

Kids/Entertainment. For us this is where Four Seasons didn’t score a five. From reviews and the resort website we got the impression there was evening entertainment and facilities for kids. Not really what we found. We tried the kids club and was told our daughter would be the only one in it so we declined the offer. Evening entertainment consisted of two evenings out of seven where a guy would sing with his guitar. He was very good but just not what we were expecting.

Outdoor pool. Clean and well looked after but we didn’t use it!

Gym. Not really us but it seemed popular and there were lots of sporty people about who seemed to be using it.

Car Hire. I would say car hire is essential for this resort. We used the people at the hotel and paid 140 euros for five days car hire. Make sure you take the extra insurance as we picked up some scrapes from other kind parking lot users when we were out and about.

Area. There isn’t too much to walk to for the average person. Someone who enjoys walking would be fine but the beach is just about okay to walk to, maybe 40 mins each way. Also a shopping centre not too far away. Mostly designer type shops. There is a supermarket behind the shopping centre. We found the “pub” at the shopping centre a bit rubbish. Beer tasted off and the wine very cheap.

Beach. Seemed very nice. Very large and clean. It was obviously very quiet when we visited. Seemed to only be one place for food or drink and that was closed. Maybe more things open up in high season.

Supermarket. There’s an onsite supermarket that is fine for day to day things but a trip to a full supermarket is needed if you plan to self cater for the week.

Overall. The place felt very secure as no-one could enter the site without scanning their room card. We would highly recommend this place but perhaps not to families with an only child at Christmas. We are looking forward to returning but maybe at peak season.
