CASTILLO BEACH BUNGALOWS

0.5 star!

Me and the wife arrived at this complex from 22/11/2018 to 29/11/2018 when we were dropped off from our transfer bus we thought this looks in a bit of a state! (not good start)

We went to the reception and was told our bungalow was not ready yet and that we would get a free drink while we wait.

So we walked to the bar in the Mirador restaurant which again was needing a refurb and a lot of TLC has it not very clean or inviting!. We got a drink from the barmaid who was nice and polite and we drank it outside then went to our Bungalow No 47 on the Mirador complex has the maid had finished cleaning it!!.

We entered the bungalow to be greeted with a strong smell of sick whether it was the mop or something the maid used I don’t know when we opened the wardrobe does to a smell of very sweaty socks!. By this time my wife was so upset and couldn’t stop!! if we could have got a flight home that day we would of!

After a time the smell went a bit after a full tin of deodorant sprayed all over and the door and windows were all open. I went to the shop to get some water etc!

There is 4 areas Moon, Star, Vista, & Mirador. Our bungalow had a bath and shower sink and toilet with 2 dingy bath towels (take your own towels as theirs are only good for standing on and soaking the shower water off the floor) and only get changed around twice a week.

The bedroom had 2 single beds which to be fair had nice clean sheets on but only changed once! and a smelly wardrobe (until sprayed perfume and deodorant in it) it had 4 coat hangers so had to go to reception for more the kitchen had what you needed for self-catering kettle toaster microwave and electric oven plus plates dishes cutlery etc!.

The sofa was a bit dingy and had a mattress underneath has that would be an extra bed also a cabinet for clothes and things with an old tv on it!

The lighting was a lot to be desired has not very bright and had dirty dingy curtains… We walked down the site to where the square as which had around 8 dingy bars which need knocking down and rebuilding to make it more inviting but the owners and bar staff and punters are friendly enough but I couldn’t stop there for drinks and food.( we did not have food in them so cannot comment on that) next to them is a Dino supermarket which is clean a good prices but the English shop over the road is a bit dire and seems more expensive!.

The walk down to the town is about 15 mins and to the harbour around 20-25 mins (at night we booked a taxi from reception to these areas and it took around 5 mins and under 4 euros) I must say the reception staff are nice and polite. The pool areas we visited were nice had a good amount of sunbeds which need a good wash has bird muck on most of them but did not see any sun umbrellas just a few fixed ones which cant be moved!!. But (at last) we were happy with Caleta de Fuste with its nice beach and bars/ restaurants and shops and got talking to some very nice people the harbour area is very nice…So, in the end, glad we stopped and did not fly home. We only used our room to sleep in as we were out all day and night There is a big market on Saturdays and Tuesday near to these bungalows…

Next time we come to Caleta we will book a hotel near the front and will never stop a Castillo Beach Bungalows again as its basically a tip!

Even though its fairly cheap you expect more has it seems a commonplace to come has its busy and would say families come to the same place every year put please respect my opinion! Come here at your own peril has the reviews are quite true in some cases!!
