Brockwood Hall

Brockwood Hall Timeshare

What could have been!!

We booked through Hoseasons for a 4 night break in the Eden Lodge. Firstly don’t be fooled, we have stayed in many lodges around the UK and these are not traditional lodges, they are 70’s chalets that have been partly refurbished to a reasonable standard.

On arrival, we were given our key and information by a very pleasant member of staff. We were offered a daily cleaning service free of charge and although we thought this was a great service we declined to take up the offer.

The living/kitchen and bedrooms have been redecorated but the bathroom is like going back in time. We couldn’t understand how anyone would go to the effort of ‘refurbishing’ a property but stop at the bathroom (other than stopping to get them rented out for the season as quick as possible). The windows in the property were also in need of being replaced as they were rotting and dirty in places.

The chalet is set in lovely surroundings. The gardens surrounding Brockwood Hall were well kept and the patio area with seating was very pleasant to sit and have a drink from the bar . As for the Peacocks wandering freely they didn’t bother us, in fact we thought they were very beautiful. The surrounding countryside is stunning and peaceful although a little too quiet for us.

On the third afternoon of our stay we travelled up to Bowness as we love it there and had a great afternoon on the lake. On our return to our lodge we found that someone had been in while we were away. We knew something didn’t seem quite right and after a quick look round found that the ‘coffee’ table in the sitting area had been swapped while we were out. We rang the reception and told the chalet manager that someone had been in while we were away and changed the table. He said he could only apologise but would tell off any “naughty monkey” who had done this, in other words he didn’t take it seriously that we were not happy. We also paid £100 security deposit for breakages etc, what if that “naughty monkey” broke something while we were not there, who would get the blame.

One of the evenings we were there we thought we would try the “Bistro”. What an experience that was!! The Bistro is actually a very elegant room with Bistro style tables. Unfortunately, it had no atmosphere, there was only the two of us in even though we were told to book, one half of a Bon Jovi song was piped through and that was the only music. The waitress who served us didn’t really know what she was doing and one of the meals we ordered we wouldn’t expect our cat to eat. The restaurant manager, Josh was extremely apologetic and insisted we didn’t pay for the food or our bottle of wine.

Overall we were very disappointed as we love the lakes and also love lodges with hot tubs. We feel Brockwood Hall has been let down by poor management who certainly think little of customer service.

We would not recommend Brockwood Hall holiday chalets/lodges.
