Not Ready for Prime Time. Disappointing
Long time Marriott owners Elite hoping this resort would provide a relaxing experience. Surprising the food at Steak, Italian , and Pizza places great.
Mostly the staff friendly BUT Vacation Club second class. Could not charge to room. Had to carry cash everywhere. Lost points. Couldn’t even get an additional towel because vacation club.
Had to trek all the way back to room. Quiet areas lost with loud music.
Ownership changing but never disclosed. No benefit to high level owner. Not customer friendly. Hotel side yes but not vacation side. What a shame.
I’d stay away till they figure things out. Rooms ok but air conditioner freight train in room! This resort is on the lower end of Marriott.
Needs some renovation.
We have been Marriott Vacation Club owners since 1987 and have visited many of the properties. We were originally scheduled to go to Frenchman’s Cove in St Thomas but the recent hurricanes had closed the Resort so we chose this resort as an alternative.
The villas are two or three bedrooms and are on the Marriott hotel property and all hotel amenities are available.
There is a smaller but substantial pool (South Pool) right next to the villas. I recommend this pool. It was in better repair and quieter.
It is the condition of the villas that drives the average rating.
The villas were just OK in terms of cleanliness. The exterior door trims and baseboards show signs of deteriorating and a fresh coat of paint is needed.
The hotel property is being renovated but needs a lot of work.
Before arriving we were provided a pre order grocery list but don’t bother. There is a small market within walking distance. It is old but it appeared it would be moving to a new building even closer to the property.
Would we go back? Absolutely but we would be prepared for the less than Marriott standard.
Beautiful location, stunning beach but not up to Marriott’s standards
We are long time Marriott owners and have enjoyed great service and amenities at the vacation club facilities worldwide and had high expectations for St. Kitts.
The good news is the occupancy rate was low so we often had the beach and pool practically to ourselves, and the beach is gorgeous, just steps outside the hotel.
The bad news is the primary restaurants were closed so dining choices were severely limited and not even close to Marriott’s standards. Neither was the service. People were very nice and friendly but that did not translate into good service.
Fortunately damage from recent hurricanes was not substantial, but the facility is under renovations.
End of season feel.
As a MVCI owner we decided to try the St Kitts Marriott property for our 11 night break.
The good- the resort and villas rooms are extremely spacious and up to the high standards of Marriott, very nice pools, a good gym and a super spa. The bad – poor internet reception, in the villas you need to be in the same room as the router to get a good reception.
Around the hotel it is a very mixed reception. As it is end of season most restaurants on site are lacking the full range of wines from the list, it appears they only have one Chilean red and white, not sure this would be the same in high season.
The indifference – although some staff are very friendly and embrace very high standards others are quite surly and should understand that they work in the hospitality industry.
One real disappointment is you are asked for preference of room type before you arrive, making a high floor priority one only to be given a ground floor villa was unexpected and to be told we could move 6 days later when the resort was 20/30% full was a real shame.
