Best Choice on Lido Beach
My husband and I have been coming to the Limetree for the past few years. Most recently we visited in July. Limetree is timeshare condos but rentals are available throughout the year.
We have always found the rooms, pool and grounds to be clean and well kept. The rooms we have stayed in have recently been updated. Kitchens are well stocked with all the utensils and appliances you need. Bedrooms have a king-sized bed and flat screen TV. Living rooms also have a flat screen TV and comfortable furniture.
Staff and management are friendly and helpful. It is directly on the gulf so you can enjoy the beautiful white sand beach and most spectacular sunsets. St. Armands Circle is one mile away so you can walk to great shopping and wonderful restaurants.
Limetree also offers free bike rentals which my husband and I take advantage of and enjoy a morning bike ride every day. We’ve always found Limetree to be high-quality and the price very reasonable. We love staying at the Limetree Resort and will definitely stay here again. Highly Recommended!
Lovely holiday with some hiccups.
*I know it’s long but worth reading.*
The location gives it the high rating.
Terrible wifi. Strangers rules.
I would have given this place 5 stars but we did experience a few hiccups along our stay.
I travel a lot, I stay at timeshares exchanged to chain hotels. I HAVE NEVER HAD TO CLEAN MY UNIT, I have never had to take the bedding off my beds and place all linens in the kitchen! Ian used to no maid service, I really don’t mind at all. I don’t mind taking out my garbage and recycling. I know this comes with staying at timeshares. One of their many rules is if you leave the room excessively dirty there is a fine. I wasn’t worried about that… we didn’t track sand, only stayed a week. However, the unit was dirty when I arrived. Under the bed was full of dust bunnies … disgusting!!!! The floor of the entire unit was full of dust, sand and grime! We had to clean the floors – vacuum and mop! Worried for a FINE. You can’t spray your sunscreen anywhere in the property, must go off to the beach. If you are caught, you get a FINE. I really liked it was a non-smoking property. I didn’t mind seeing the FINE for that. They pump water from some reservoir, which was a nice treat. The 6 BBQ grills are very nice.
The hot tub is the size of a personal hot tub, only 4 adults fit in the tub with some elbow room. Why parents would allow their children in the hot tub is beyond me. I never allowed my kids to enter one. Now they are older, they sat in once, it was enough for them.
THE WIFI IS AWFUL!!!!!! Only really worked on your deck or by the pool. Forget trying to use your computer or phone in your bedroom….it picked up the wifi from the building next door.
Aside from the cleaning and worries about the FINE, everything else was fine. KITCHEN was very nice, granite counter, clean and well stocked cabinets. Very clean! You can see they have made upgrades, new tile floors, kitchen and updated bathroom.
I did not feel comfortable with all the RULES and THREATS FOR FINES! Just set the rules, we are all adults here.
Also, something I have NEVER experienced in my travels was a single out, discriminated. I am from a minority group, we looked different from the other guest staying at the Lime Tree. I was swimming in the pool with my family. A unit owner must of not recognized us a REGULARS! I saw them talking. he must have complained to some employee who sitting under a tree like security? Which we had never seen any other day during our stay. This employee was very rude…. walked up to us during our swim. He rudely barked at me asking WHERE WAS MY KEY? I said in my bag. I am in the pool, where should my key be? Hanging around my neck on the lanyard? If they are so concerned on people sneaking into the resort. LIME TREE should upgrade the antiquated key system. They should have some security system at the gates from beach to the pool.
Anyway, we survived but it was not a very nice feeling. My family was shocked and offended and wanted to leave the resort!!!! We did not.
The bathroom, bath linens and bedding all was clean. Housekeeping was great about replacing bedding and bath linens.
The grounds are impeccable!! They work hard to keep everything clean. Pool area is lovely, tables and chairs in good condition.
Private beach is stunning. The most beautiful sunset, EVER!!!!!
Lido Key is beautiful. St. Armand’s Circle is very close, perfect for Window shopping, dining and purchasing souvenirs.
Tennis courts and bikes are super. Another strange insistent happened with the courts. Resorts rules is to reserve courts for ONE HOUR ONLY. We reserved for a specific time. Resort guest had to for two hours plus asked if they can continue to PLAY FOR 20 more minutes, which was during my time. Front desk approved it!!!! Shocked! Rules don’t apply to everyone!
Lastly! I felt very uncomfortable with the central air unit. See the photo. Sheetrock taped. Lots of tubing taped, electrical wire capped off. This very dangerous, I really didn’t feel safe the work that had been done to the air conditioning closet. This was very dusting & dirty here. Useless to hang any clothes and you certainly could not use the hairdryer, it was dirty
Beautiful beach
We stayed at the Limetree with a friend who has a timeshare.
She’s been coming here for years with her family. Our room was overlooking the pool with only a slight angle of the beach. This area has a less congested beach, beautiful white sand.
The pool is nice size and clean.
The room was clean except for the shower which had mould growing. It’s a little dated but a great location, walk out to the beach or drive to great shopping, restaurants and attractions.
One odd thing is the outside seating, it’s in front of your door but on the sidewalk so everyone who walks by looks at you or stops, no privacy or balcony.
Exceptional value with a great Gulf experience
The Limetree Beach resort is a gem amongst all possible lodgings on Lido Key, FL. If you are looking for a relaxed family friendly experience or a solo vacation, this is the place for you. This resort is not a fussy hotel situation.
You move into an “apartment” and manage it all week long. You may cook if you wish or try the wonderful Sarasota restaurants. It is primarily a timeshare facility; however many owners rent out their weeks if not using them.
Thus it attracts a consistent family following along with renters looking for a slice of paradise. The Limetree attracts nice and interesting people, which you may make friends with; but privacy is respected. The facility is clean, well managed, and friendly.
All staff treats you as a treasured friend. The beach and vistas are outstanding.
Consistant
Our family has been going to Limetree for a number of years. We have found it to be a terrific place on the beach with decent units. The beachfront units are the best but obviously the most expensive. The staff are friendly and accommodating. We heard that the management has changed and things are not up to snuff as in the past. Having just been there I can see that some things have slipped, like flowers and shrubs are dying, grills that don’t work and seemingly just lack of facility maintenance. I hope this is not a trend but just playing catch-up for the new management. Unit interiors are good but the kitchens and baths are dated. We heard they are updating them this year. I will be able to confirm next year as we will go back. Can’t beat the location!
Our new "favorite" Lido Beach escape
My partner and I have been visiting Lido Beach for the past 5 years. We usually have less than a week so we’ve stayed at several hotels. Last year while walking the beach we met a couple who had been staying at the Limetree Beach Resort for years; months at a time. We resolved to check it out this year. Because we stayed before the season got in to full swing, we were able to rent a 1 bedroom/1 bathroom unit for 5 days spanning two different “weekly” rental periods. Opening the door to the unit was like unwrapping a present. Compared to the hotels we’d stayed at (for which we paid more money per night) this place was paradise.
The kitchen is well stocked with all the utensils you need (including colander, mixer, baking dishes, etc.). The bedroom with king-sized bed was the way down the hallway; providing plenty of distance from the living room TV while being equipped with a nice flat screen TV itself. There were plenty of towels for us and beach towels for available to check out from house-keeping.
Things I wish I had known: the washers and dryers are free for the guests. (We’ll pack much more lightly next time.) The bikes are also free to use as are gas grills located around the pool area.
The hot tub area was nice and underutilized while we were there. One sore spot was that the volleyball nets are located near an area in which “stickers” grow. If the ball went beyond the catamarans stored at the edge of the playing area, one had to tread into pickery-stickery land to make the retrieval.
Removing the offending stickers did create a “delay of game” on more than one occasion.
Never Again
We’ve been coming to Lido for 20 years and normally stay at the Gulf Beach. The rooms we like were not available so we rented a room at the Limetree.
We got unloaded and settled in and set out for the beach. A storm came up and we rushed to get our stuff back to the room. Myself and my daughter’s boyfriend had wet cigarettes in our mouths and some jerk walked up and said “there’s no smoking on the property, heh.” Did not introduce himself nor was he polite. This set the tone for our stay.
My wife hung a few towels on the rail in front of our room to dry. You would have thought we sacrificed a chicken on the sidewalk. Guy shows up, takes our towels down and knocks on the door to tell my wife that we can’t hang them on the rail. No problem jerk should have told us when we checked in.
My wife was told we could smoke “about five feet” from the building. Yet again some jerk jumped us again. I went up to the front desk for clarification and was told tide line. No problem, just tell us what the rule is.
The people here are not nice at all. The owners look at renters like you are a third rate citizen and treat you the same way.
We really want to leave and go back to the Gulf Beach, but these people will not give us a break on the rent.
Been looking forward to this vacation all year, now we are all disappointed in our choice and will have to deal with this place and it’s owners.
