Elite??!
Titled ‘Elite’ club resorts give the impression of something special! Do not be fooled..this resort is not particularly well maintained, unfriendly staff and a lack of any ‘holiday spirit’.
We found this place to be mainly occupied by long-stay pensioners with next to nothing going on in December.
The beach itself is long and pleasant- my only saving grace from the total boredom of the ‘resort’. Its CHEAP for a reason..if I had paid a lot as do many have to with children, I’d have been furious.
The apartment’s walls are paper thin-i could literally hear next door coming in and using the toilet! The furniture is shabby and needs complete upgrading.
Don’t waste your money going!!
Don’t believe all you have read that’s bad about this place IT IS WORSE!! Than anything you can imagine.
We have just returned from this Complex 10/03/12 we have never been so disappointed by anywhere we have visited. This complex is so tatty & run down. We had confirmation we had a “Resort view” please see pictures we had a side view of lockers and ladders at side of Zanzibar (The complex Bar).
The bar was very noisy every night as they have live music on and after it closed we had everybody walking past villa shouting and talking.
The villa was dirty and smelled very damp the fridge was covered in rust and the floor had all marks over it. The bathroom wasn’t much better the bottom of the bath was very badly marked and I hate to think what stains may have been? The towels also smelt damp even after they had been changed. The villa was never cleaned all week and the linen was changed only once as was the towels. The bedding had cigarette burn holes in it!! The sofa in living area was stained and very uncomfortable
We complained about the villa and its location to reception and were referred to Neil (Customer Services!!! That’s a joke!!) after keeping us waiting for 2 hours he finally came over to speak with us and said “If you book on the internet what do you expect – we only offer villas on lowest level which is level 1 however if we was prepared to pay an extra $200 euro he could upgrade us” to level 3 villa – 3 or 4 doors away from our villa. We have booked many times on the internet and never ever had any problems & I would suggest to any Holiday company that they remove this complex from their sites or maybe state “Beware you get what you pay for” if your booking on line!! Nobody here has any idea what “Customer service” means and Neil is only interested in selling you timeshare!!
Don’t waste your time or money with these people there are far nicer hotels and villas in this resort so I would suggest you avoid the Fuerteventura Elite Beach Club.
Run down, shabby in need of refurbishment
We spent a week at Elite Fuerteventura Club recently, which is all part of the Fuerteventura Beach Club and Monte Castillo complex. We are timeshare owners and this is by far the worst place we have ever stayed in. Our apartment had a patio which overlooked a car park, with a rubbish skip directly outside, we had a cockroach in the bathroom and the whole apartment was dark, not particularly clean and the “90s” swags and tails were thick with dust.
After complaining, we were told that if we upgraded our timeshare to their latest marketing “ruse” then we could immediately be moved into a very nice, modernised beautiful bungalow – we obviously did not fall for this and eventually after quite firm discussions, were given another apartment overlooking the swimming pool. The pool is freezing cold (unheated) and the whole complex is under the flight path of arriving planes, which are constantly arriving.
The complex is also quite a long walk to the centre and the beach and is okay on the way down, but you need to get a taxi (3 euros) to get back, particularly at night. The entertainment in the Bar leaves a lot to be desired, and also it was full of people smoking indoors, which was unbearable for non smokers.
The reception staff were very pleasant indeed but one night we did have particularly rowdy neighbours who kept us and other people away until 3.30am – when we complained to Reception, they told us there is no security on site but if we had any problems in future, we could ring a mobile number of the Manager day or night – like he would have got out of bed at 3.30am to tackle 4 noisy teenagers!
All in all, we cannot recommend this resort unless it gets a serious makeover and we will certainly not be returning.
Wouldn’t stay there again.
We booked the Fuerteventura beach club after being told it had been newly refurbished. However, upon arrival at the resort, it was clear that the particular apartment we had been allocated hadn’t. The furniture upholstery had holes in, the bath had stains, the fridge was rusty and seemed to be broken. We were also greeted with an infestation of ants, which instead of the hotel staff rectifying the problem, we were given some ant spray in order to get rid of the problem ourselves. The bedroom itself consisted of two single beds that we pushed together, two wardrobes with 2 coat hangers a piece and an old looking safe with required a key. As a young couple, we didn’t spend a lot of time in the room, so the state of the room wasn’t that much of a problem for us, however, if you have a young family, then the rooms could be a problem.
The self-catering facilities in the room were also very basic, having only two hobs to cook on with no other cooking facilities. It wasn’t till we spoke to another couple holidaying at the resort that we realised that we had been allocated to the wrong area of the hotel, instead of being put in the newly refurbished Fuerteventura beach club, we had been put in the elite club which is tired and shabby, to say the least.
The pool areas of the hotel are nice and clean, found no tiles to be missing, they also have areas for children which aren’t too deep. We found the pool to get dirty a few times in the children’s pool which would be the only complaint. We were also told there were two jacuzzi areas in the elite club area and these were also on the map.
However, after venturing out with the map to find these jacuzzis, it was concluded that there weren’t actually any, especially in the place which we were told they were. There is also a bar and a restaurant situated on the complex which we’d recommend using. The food at the restaurant was very nice and great value for money as the portions are huge. The hotel bar was also very good value for money and we found the drinks to be cheaper than some of the bars situated in the centre of Caleta itself.
However, the entertainment tended to be a bit rubbish.
The cleanliness also became an issue on our stay. The maids only visited twice in a week and changed our bed linen once. We also had an issue with the towels, as we were given one set of towels when we arrived Wednesday and by Sunday we hadn’t been given any fresh ones. By Monday when we still hadn’t received any clean towels we made numerous trips to reception (the staff weren’t very helpful) and after about several attempts, we received 6 hand towels and 1 bath towel to share between the two of us. The staff also left us with the dirty towels which we put outside our apartment on Monday, they were still there when we left on Wednesday.
Overall the accommodation is tired and dated and desperately needs attention. Many people say you get what you pay for and yes our holiday was cheap, however, we didn’t get what we paid for. The resort of Caleta is nice and we had a lovely holiday despite our accommodation as our motto is ‘a holiday it what you make it’. However, I would not recommend this to families especially with young children.
Dont expect too much
The staff were really friendly and helpful but the resort, even the Elite part where we were booked, is very dated. When we arrived the occupants of our allocated room had not checked out so we could not get into the room! We were given another room but that was in a part of the resort that was being renovated. The room was fine but outside there were paving slabs missing and lots of digging going on to replace water pipes. I suppose an all year complex must get renovated at some time and we were just unfortunate to experience that. After 3 days however our plumbing in the bathroom started to come through the shower drain! Every time the toilet was flushed or the sink used it came up through the shower drain. To cap that off the electricity then failed when the shower was turned on which is apparently a common problem. We were moved to the next door room which was much better and survived the remaining holiday with no further problems. The complex has 2 pools and one was being renovated during our 2 week stay. They used sun loungers to block off the pool which meant there were not enough to use around the second pool. The Elite pool bar is supposed to be open until 9pm but it closed every day at around 5.30. The onsite restaurant, Chez Moi, is the worst place we ate during our fortnight. When you hear the pinging of a microwave shortly followed by the delivery of your food you know you are in trouble. Much better food is available in town. Our favourite was “El Patio” who cook fantastic steaks and paella and very generous sized complementary liquor after the meal. In short Caletta de Fuste is OK but the Elite Club leaves a lot to be desired. On a drive south to Jandia we found some fantastic beaches and should we ever go back to Fuerteventura then Jandia would be the place to go.
