Good........could be better
Stayed at Royal Regency as a Diamond member from 5th to 12th April 2014. The front desk and staff were excellent.
Check in very efficient and full of information. The location for Paris centre is superb and the car stayed in the underground car park all week apart from the journey to Disneyland. The reason for this is the location is a 10 minute stroll to the Metro…..by far the best way to get around. The three bedroom apartment was extremely large (1103) and had everything you needed for a self catering apartment. The downside was that it is in need of some tlc. The showers really need updating/ refurb on ensuite and bathroom.
The decor is generally a bit tired and entrance hallway carpet had a nasty stain. However, the cleanliness was actually very good as was the overall housekeeping during our stay.
The biggest complaint was the water heater that was extremely noisy and due replacement or a service.
To some up with a bit of tlc could easily be very good or even excellent.
Would stay again hopefully to see if these comments have been noted!

Very Pretty Surburb of France
We stayed at the Royal Regency in Vincennes a residential area on the outskirts of Paris and the former home of French royalty. Royal Regency vacation accommodation is a 10-minute walk from the Chateau de Vincennes. It is a very nice area with beautiful buildings and friendly people. However, the hotel is a bit of a distance from the METRO but there is a bus stop just outside and takes you to the terminal….but your bus ticket doesn’t transfer for the Metro so plan your trips.
Now for the Royal Regency. I have been mulling over for several days how this property should be reviewed.
Apparently, Diamond Resorts International (a timeshare group) has recently purchased the property and is converting it for their use.
It is a pleasing property for being in the city. The apartments are fairly sizable and the kitchen well supplied if just a bit cramped. The best part of Royal Regency is the Front Office staff. If Diamond is lucky these people will remain through the transition. They are friendly, speak English on a high level and always willing to take the time to help any guest.
On the downside, if you are not a member of Diamond but either traded through RCI or Interval International or as was our case, purchased a week as a hotel/apartment, you will not be financially happy at all! There are safes in the rooms, but it is 2 euros a day if you are not Diamond. Parking is 15 euros per day but again free for Diamond.
Internet is pretty high….free for Diamond, but 5.75 euros per day and more for a 2 bdrm apartment. Also, if you are not a member of Diamond you don’t get clean towels or sheets for 4 nights then you get service again the night before you leave….go figure. The units are supposed to be getting renovated. We had black mould all over the ceiling above our shower. They came in mid-week and wiped down the ceiling, but didn’t use chemicals…just water so I am not sure how good that was. You do get a lot for the money compared to being in Paris and it is very close. Perhaps when Diamond completes their plans it may be a very nice property.
Air Conditioner!!
We had a nice stay at Royal Regency. Checkin was very smooth and we were given a room very early in the morning and it was very nice. The only thing was Paris had a heat wave and there was no air conditioning! Asked for a fan and was told none was available. Needless to say, couldn’t sleep at all that night, even called around for another hotel with no success…..fortunately the rest of the week was a bit better but we slept with the windows opened the whole time, bringing in all the late night party noise and smoking.
We walked every day to the Metro, never took the 118 bus and we got to buy our fresh croissants every morning. We also felt safe coming back at night and most nights we were walking past midnight.
We went to a French restaurant for dinner based on the hotel’s recommendation and it was reasonable, and there are many cafes in the area, all very busy late into the evenings.
There are many little stores and our needs are met, water, juice, toiletries stuff. You need a little French to get by in this area in my opinion as it’s not a tourist area.
We even ventured to do our laundry at the end and it was interesting.
Overall staff was helpful and efficient.
okay
This timeshare apartment is located in quiet Vincennes, just east of Paris central. It has no air conditioning, the kitchen is very small with no oven (I think the microwave is convection), the beds are not comfortable, and there is no onsite laundry.
The metro and RER are both a 15 minute walk. However, the 118 bus stop is just across the street and drops you right off at the metro or 1 block from the RER. On the way back, it drops you off at the grocery store which is 1 block from the apartment.
The laundromat is 2 blocks away. There is a smaller grocery store 1 block away, a butcher/brassiere across the street, and a wine cellar next door. There are a few restaurants nearby as well.
It was nice to come “home” after a busy day sightseeing in busy Paris.
Vincennes itself has a lot to do/see such as touring the Chateau, walking through the bois (woods), and shopping.
The apartment was sufficient for our visit to Paris but isn’t up to Diamond standards.
Not yet up to Diamond standards
I had a hard time deciding what rating to give this timeshare and settled on Average as compared to other Diamond resorts (we are Diamond owners). For 9,000 points we expected better. My husband and I enjoyed our stay here and we were in a refurbished two bedroom apartment. However, there are a lot of little things that could be done to improve one’s stay and I have written to the resort manager directly to suggest them. What you need to know is as follows. This location is fine if you have been to Paris before, or have a car or want to go to Disney.
If this is your first time in Paris, I would strongly recommend staying on the Left Bank in the middle of it all. There are some lovely, inexpensive hotels near the Sorbonne or Pantheon.
Having said that, the bus is within 1/2 a block to take you direct to the Metro. We did this every day with no problem. In fact, if you come into Paris by train, you could do the whole trip to this hotel by metro and subway, but it would be a pain if you have much luggage (more stairs than escalators). Also be aware that if you order a taxi to the Gare de Lyon to catch a train, that the meter starts running at 15 Euros. We ate at L’Estaminet, recommended by the hotel and had a lovely lunch there. It is a bit of a walk.
We ate dinner twice at Villa Capri, across from the Carrefour and had two fabulous meals, Italian with French flair. The bakery near Carrefour is excellent and the dry cleaner delivered as promised. As others have noted, shops are closed in the area on Sunday and Monday. I don’t know if it was because we are Diamond owners, but we had an English newspaper delivered to our door each morning, internet was free and some form of housekeeping was done in our apartment each day. What else? Yes this is a two bedroom but more for 2 adults and 2 children.
It helps that the bath/shower and toilet are in separate rooms but there is no storage whatsoever in either bedroom. Instead there is a closet with a few fixed hangers and a couple of shelves in the hall off the living room.
We had a huge terrace with a table and chairs, but the weather was too cool and wet to use it much.
Lastly I must thank the staff at reception who all spoke English and were happy to help in any way they could.
