Not worth it!. Poor Staff and really Bad Food ruin this Resort.
I had average expectations for Nickelodeon Resort and was not expecting a 4 Star experience or anything but I was still disappointed with this place. The Hotel itself is nice and well kept, but overall the staff and food really hurt this place.
CONS:
STAFF: We had a VIP Concierge that came with our room named “RAFAEL”. He could NOT BE MORE USELESS.
Upon arriving, as he escorted us to our room, he told us he’d be taking care of us for the week with anything we needed. Would be dropping off the Activity Schedule every morning, setting up all our dinner reservations and something special for our anniversary. We never asked for any of this but it sounded great and I tipped him very well. That was about the last time we saw or heard from him.
The first time we called him he had an excuse being “in a meeting”, next time “his golf cart was charging”, next time “he was out”…etc. you name it- this lazy guy had an excuse. The one time he agreed to give us a ride somewhere he never showed up. He never gave us daily schedules or set anything up.
We did it all ourselves with the help of 2 other Concierges, Anna and Henry- who were both very helpful. Thank God for them or this place would be lost! When we complained about Rafael, everybody kind sighed and agreed like “Yeah, we know that’s how he is.” It’s a shame that other employees have to cover for him and do his job.
FOOD: We had low expectations here, as we were warned ahead of time the food wasn’t great, but we aren’t picky so we figured it would be fine. Welt ruins out the warnings were warranted. The only thing edible there is hamburgers (from BRGRS PH) and Pizza from the Aqua Bite. The “Space” restaurant (which does not have a ‘space theme’ other than a helmet for kids to wear) literally serves a pile of cold EZ cheese with 1/2 a rice cake stuck in it as an Appetizer.
Our table was laughing along with other tables who had ordered it at how terrible and ridiculous it was. The other restaurants were no better. As I said the Burger place is good and you don’t need a reservation. Buffet was bland and same small selection every day.
$1000 CREDIT: Don’t get fooled by the $1000 resort credit. It’s pretty much rigged so you can’t use any of it. It’s all earmarked in very specific ways (i.e. $20 towards a wine purchase over $200, only $15 can be used towards Character Breakfast etc.)
After a week of Character breakfasts, Spa treatments and other purchases, I was informed upon check out that only $25 of our $1000 Resort Credit was actually usable.
Organization overall seems to be a big problem. Even when the staff tries to help you, no-one seems to know what is going on. It’s like its everybody’ first day.
I really wanted to like this place and was hoping to find a new vacation destination, but unfortunately, that was not the case.
PROS:
The Pools and Water Parks are nice for the kids.
The Water Park team does a good job.
The coffee at the Doppio Cafe is really good. All the other Guests we met from around the world were nice.

Adequate but overrated
Family of 4, 2 kids: boy 7 and girl 4. Currently staying here for memorial day weekend.
Good: Room was clean and swim up pool was great for the kids. Nickelodeon club is well maintained and staff always watching out for you kids. The grounds are extremely well kept. Luis is awesome.
Bad: 1/3 staff is great. 1/3 staff barely tracking average. 1/3 staff phoning it in. Activities and schedule aren’t well coordinated. Could do a better job of allowing preparing the activities for the day. For example, they should give you the whole schedule in advance of the day or posting online instead fishing for it at the concierge’s desk.
Ugly: The food at the Sugarcane is below average and seem to only have limited spots at the other restaurants. We had dinner last night at the Italian, Verdello, which actually was quite good. However, trying to book a restaurant for tonight at and the concierge stated they were completely booked. As stated in past reviews, this is their way to minimize the service at the better restaurants. Furthermore, they make the process to book the restaurants too painful. If there are limited spots, be honest, and state up front before booking the vacation.
Don’t think we would come back. We had previous vacations at Beaches and much better experience. Yes, I know a higher price point, but for us worth it to get a bit better quality.
Nice Resort but Disappointing Experience as Resort Members
We are Karisma Prestige Traveler members and decided to use our membership to travel to the Nickelodeon Hotels & Resorts in Punta Cana this year to celebrate our 12th year anniversary.
We went with our 4 and 8 year old daughters and stayed in a swim-up close to the beach.
With our membership, we got a private shuttle to and from the resort, which is always nice. We did have a hard time finding our driver though as there was no clear signage of where he was waiting. After about 1/2 hour of asking around, we finally found him sitting behind a counter back in the airport (vs at the exit where most drivers with signages stood).
Resort is very clean and staff are very friendly. Lots of a-la-carte restaurants to choose from but some require a reservation in advance and most already booked up when we arrived. If it wasn’t because we stayed for 11 nights, we would not have been able to try the 4 reservation required restaurants. Food was very good. The best of the Karisma resorts that we have visited.
We had a swim-up that was attached to a swim-up bar and Fresco restaurant 5 or 6 doors down so it was very convenient to swim over to grab a drink or snack.
We were very disappointed that once again, the resort failed to prepare our room properly for our anniversary celebration. We noted it in our reservation and confirmed when we arrived but met with disappointment when we arrived in our room. After bringing this up to our butler, Jose, he tried his best to make things up for us.
Nickelodeon experience oversold as the characters can only be seen in the kids area which was a bit of a trek away, or at the paid character breakfast in the Zest restaurant. Most took the shuttle to and from the kids area and main resort. Once you are in the kids area, there’s a playhouse, waterpark, theatre, gift shop and restaurant. Kids waterpark was nice but my girls enjoyed swimming around in the lazy river more – mostly due to my 8 year old crashing into a boy trying to climb up the slide while she was coming down the slide. She couldn’t see him until it was too late because the slide twisted.
Our girls love Dora and Boots as well as Paw Patrol. They were really looking forward to the Nickelodeon experience, waterpark, kids playhouse and theatre but were disappointed. We booked an 11 night stay thinking we wouldn’t have enough time to enjoy everything but it seems that it was too long as the girls got bored. We made the best of it but the girls aren’t sure if they would return to this particular resort again.
I found there was very little in terms of organized activities for the kids in the playhouse of shows in the theatre. Back at the Sensatori, the kids had water balloon fights, piñata making, face painting, scavenger hunts at the beach, water games in the pool, and the staff took them to the kids’ theatre for live entertainment every night. At Nickelodeon, we noticed that even though the playhouse was only steps away from the kids’ theatre, they never took any kids out of the playhouse to the live theatre. They all stayed in the playhouse running around, sat and played video games or watched movies. So, from a kids entertainment perspective, it was disappointing.
The beach was somewhat maintained. There was lots of seaweed and no matter how hard the staff tried to keep it clear, it just kept coming back. There was no shortage of cabanas on the beach so that was great. We weren’t able to use any of the non-motorized sports in the water, e.g., kayak or catamaran, throughout our entire stay because the water was too rough. At one point, even boogie boards weren’t allowed in the water.
Housekeeping was hit and miss. Only got turn down service when reminded even though it was supposed to be part of membership. Used amenities like soap and shampoo not always refilled until requested. Mini bar also not always refilled until requested. Thank goodness for our butler who took care of these little things. i.e., followed up with the appropriate department to action. Jose also made sure the hotel got our Anniversary celebration in order. With the Anniversary celebration came a free night return stay. The hotel kept promising to send us the certificate but even after returning home, nothing. I still had our butlers phone number so I texted him and he made sure the hotel sent it to us even though we had already left the resort. Jose really went out of his way to make our stay enjoyable. This part of the Prestige membership we really enjoyed – a personal butler.
Even though we had already signed up as members to the resort previously, the travel club would still ask us to attend their presentation for changes and upgrade opportunities. This turned us off a bit as we just wanted to enjoy our vacation and still waiting for our current membership privileges to pay for itself, which it has not as we are still waiting for the resort to deliver upon its promises and commitments. I’m afraid this will be our last vacation with this resort.
If you are considering joining their travel club, do your homework. Take some time to read the reviews and experience of other members before you sign. We probably would have enjoyed our vacation more as non-members because then we wouldn’t have come with such high expectations of the resort…
Reason for our dissatisfied rating and experience: poorly trained staff with respect to membership benefits, poor communication of current promotions, overselling of Nickelodeon experience and resort not fulfilling on its membership commitments.
Nickelodeon
The most horrible services I experienced in my life.
I have been and many different hotels and cheaper then Nickelodeon and I never complain about services.
The food is lower than average and the drinks are so-so.
I’m so disappointed in my vacation
