Don’t stay here!
We checked in at half 12 because we were coming from other hotel. We did all the paperwork got our bands, played the deposits, which was great. Then told to come back after 4pm to get our keys and find out which room we would have.
We got back at about 5/5:30 to pick up our keys, we went to reception the women put in our information she then looked worried and then left, to talk to the manager. She was gone for a good 20 minutes, at this point we are worried we don’t have a hotel room to stay in. Once she come back she tell us that our room hasn’t finished being cleaned, that she will give us the keys but there will be someone in there cleaning. That they still need to empty the dishwasher, sweep the floor and it. As we pulled up to the apartment block we saw the cleaner going into our apartment to finish cleaning it. They had over 5 hours to finish cleaning our apartment, this is unacceptable. If we arrived to check in at 4 and the room wasn’t completely ready that’s fine but to check in at 12:30 and the room still not to be ready at 5:30 is shocking.I almost got hit by a sixth foot width branch that fell off on of your tree, it missed my by a foot. When I told reception all they said was ok, they didn’t even ask if I was ok. Not only did it almost hit me but it also hit all the parked cars, this would have cause great damage to me if it had it be. I was very shaken up and was shocked that they couldn’t care less.
Our apartment had Roaches, I understand that they are really common at this time of year. However, we went to Walmart and brought gel and spray repellent, which made a big difference to the number of Roaches we had. They should be taking these step to make your stay more conformable and not having to worry about stepping on Roach in bare feet.
There was no instruction guild for the washer dryer combo, we had to google it to find out how to use it. The washer is ok, fine to freshen up your clothes but rubbish to get out stains. It could have used a clean, which would have made it run better. Also, I really missed not having a clothes airier, we had a tumble dryer but lots of clothes can’t be tumbled dyed. we had to hang our cloth out on the chairs, table and stools.
Housekeeping is also very bad, I wasn’t impressed that they only come once a week to clean your room. At the very least they should come in, make your bed and do a quick clean if it needs it. We were meant to have our apartment full cleaned on the Sunday, 8 days after we arrived. At this point our appointment really badly needed, bed needed changing, we needed clean towels, the floor needs sweeping and washing ect. We went to reception on Monday to complain that our room had not been cleaned, they didn’t even apologise they just said that tomorrow (Tuesday) we had to ring the reception once we are about to leave the apartment and they would get it cleaned. we asked of we could just book it in for after 11 am because we will definitely be gone by then and was told no. So on Tuesday, I rang them as we were about to leave the apartment to tell me the apartment was available to be cleaned now. The response I got from the person on the end of the phone was “well are you staying 14 days or more else you don’t get cleaning”. When I said we are, that we have already been there 10 days and would like house cleaning today. I was then told they were unable to do that but they could come tomorrow (Wednesday). we had to spend 11 days with a dirty towel, bedding and floors, its really not acceptable.
We went to reception and asked for new battery for our remote because it was working. She spoke to us like we were stupid and the battery in the remote could never run out. After a while of us explaining why the remote didn’t work, she agreed to get new battery put into the remote.
The bands are a horrible system, they are cheap bands that break easy and look horrible. I had to keep taking mine off because it kept digging into me while I slept. It wouldn’t of been to bad if they were plastic or material, we had better bands for Gatorland then we did for our hotel. We were told by reception not to lose them because it’s a pain and you need to prove who you are and that you’re staying there but if you bring it back you can just get a new one. Reception is always very busy, meaning you have to que from only were between 15 – 30 minutes for a new band. We both had to remove our bands and Discovery Cove, they ended up getting lost, so we just decided not to bother getting other bands. Which then meant we couldn’t use the faculties.
We only went swimming in the pool once, we found it very dirty and in desperately needed cleaning.
As a Diamond Resort member, this resort is a disgrace, the staff are rude, the faculties are dirty, the organisation and management is shocking. There is no way I would ever stay here again.

5th and FINAL stay! Left early! Please read.
This is about our 5th stay at Liki Tiki and our LAST. We left early! First of all the smell of pot was everywhere. Young children were walking around smelling it and commenting, and laughing about the smell of pot (how they knew it was pot frightens me). Hearing this prompted our children to ask about pot. We brought this up to security and they said there is nothing they can do.
Second, we could not use the large pool at night. We are aware from the past that there is no lifeguard. But this was scary. There was no parental control, children under 14 were unsupervised, children jumping on children. We did not feel safe.
We also heard other adults having to leave because of this behaviour… The final straw was that you allow people to swim when lightning is present.
We are from Florida and are aware of the danger, but so many people are not aware and trust Diamond Resorts to keep them safe. We spoke to a lifeguard and he said you used to close to the pool when lightning was 10 miles away, but so many people complained you reduced it to 6 miles.
This tells me Diamond Resort is more concerned with $$ than our safety.
I’ve stayed at motels that were better than this
I’m not really sure where to begin. I waited in line for 1 hour to check in. They gave me a room that smelled like cigarette smoke so bad, I almost threw up when I opened the front door. I took all my belongings back down to the car and back to the office to wait in line again for another room. So, check in took just over 2 hours last night. The room is okay. The “garden view” room actually means you look out at the Florida swamp. The exterior of the buildings is in need of some paint/maintenance. They look tired. The room itself is dated (appliances, countertops, a thermostat which is difficult to control temperature). Our room had “sex” stains on the couch that were pretty gross. The property charged me $90 in resort fees, which I expected due to the water park (my daughter loves water parks). However, the water park is closed for maintenance. My wife and daughter went to the pool and within 10 minutes they closed the pool “for at least 4 hours” as well. I’m going to complain to management regarding charging a resort fee when amenities are closed and not available for use. However, I’ve been here less than 16 hours and I would never stay here again. If you are looking for a Diamond Resort that is managed the right way, look at Grand Beach by Diamond Resorts (I have a review for this property as well)
Unsafe conditions for a vacation
So I was staying at Liki Tiki with my husband and daughter. We chose Liki Tiki because of the pools and it’s close to Nemours Children’s Hospital.
When I checked in I noticed all the construction going on at the front desk and we had to check in at the sales center. That was kinda of an inconvenience but I decided I would make the best of it and we went to our room, that’s when things got worse.
First, the elevator was malfunctioning. It would stop between floors and would go soooo slow it felt like it wasn’t moving. I informed the front desk who told me it would be fixed but alas it was not even after I called to see if it had been prior to us going back to the room after a day out.
We called Diamond and their only response was to off a more expensive stay at another resort. They told me they would refund the whole stay and here it is months later and they didn’t even refund the part of the stay I didn’t use.
So here’s the kicker, I was and still am pregnant with twins and was forced to hike stairs to get to our room, IM HIGH RISK and had just gotten off bedrest. It’s crazy that they couldn’t just put us in one of the 30 or so ground floor rooms that were available at the time.
Instead, they wanted to offer us a more expensive room that was further away. And to this day I still have a fear of getting stuck in an elevator, I get so anxious and upset that now I avoid all elevators.
If you ask me diamond resorts are all run down, they buy these resorts and invest the least amount possible to keep the doors open and when things break they basically smile and tell you “have a nice day” diamond owes me points which at this point I doubt I’ll ever see. But just be aware they are all scam artists and crooks at diamond. “Stay vacationing” yeah in the slums of Florida…. I’ll pass and you should too.
NEVER AGAIN!
Checked into a 2 BR on 12/26/2017 @10:00 PM. Wait was over 1 hour.
Finally got to desk and was told NO RESERVATION in the system? Showed the clerk my JetBlue Confirmation with the number and room type. After another 30 minutes of looking through the computer system, and me emailing my reservation to the clerk in front of me, I was told that only a 1 BR was available for the night and we would be switched out in the AM to a 2 BR, like we paid for. Asked for compensation for the troubles and received no response. This will be the first and LAST time we stay at a Diamond Resort!!.
