First time
Our first time coming to San Carlos, our friends had stayed at the Sea of Cortez Beach Club Resort before and recommended it. We had booked this trip and had to prepay for the room. When we arrived they assigned us a room on the main floor by the office just by the pool and kids pool area- bet you know what happened next. Yep, kids screaming and yelling half the night.
It turns out that this family were not even guests at the hotel. I had asked for a room higher in the building when we checked in and they said that none were available. Funny, standing in the lobby a few hours later a couple came in and wanted to change there room to a higher floor and they accommodated them. BY the way, when this room was booked you were not given any choice of a room.
So after all this hassle, we decided to go out by the pool for a drink- GREAT the bathroom had apparently overflowed out onto the floor and by the bar, the smell was bad enough the ewe had to leave.
Lastly, you have to pay a resort fee daily, I had paid for one the day and checking out the next morning at 4am I had to pay yet another resort fee. I am quite sure that there are plenty of other places to stay in San Carlos and would recommend don’t waste your time or money here. This hotel is on the beach with no sand beach , they do have a rock beach though.

Worst experience
The group of friends that I came with selected this resort because they said that the staff was friendly & was in a great location so I expected it to be just that. During check in one of our rooms wasn’t ready and they said it would be ready within 30 minutes.
So we had to hang tight until it was ready.
We asked about having an additional guest in our room & front desk reps said we couldn’t have additional guests because it was spring break and there was no option to pay an additional fee either.
We had to scramble around to find a room for our additional guests, so while we found them a different room they joined us for daily activities. Such an inconvenience. The entire time our group was there we were constantly being watched by security & front desk. On multiple occasions were asked if we were even staying at the hotel.
We wouldn’t just go into a random hotel and use amenities If we weren’t staying there.
Overall our experience was subpar & we didn’t feel comfortable during our stay so we cut it short and left a day early.
Seemed that anything we did was going to be reported to the front seat personnel & we were going to receive a phone call shortly after. Wouldn’t stay here again!
Nice, but watch out for credit card scam
Great visit, marred by the fact that I’m pretty sure my credit number was lifted from my credit card.
I used my credit card for the “resort fee”, and to pay for breakfast at their restaurant.
Right after that, the card started to accumulate fraudulent charges from a nearby city (Obregon) – a city I have never been to.
Worst hotel experience ever!
Have booked two nights at this hotel for the Mexican holiday this week. One day before my trip, the hotel has contacted me saying that my reservation already confirmed and guaranteed was cancelled. This due to the effects of the hurricane that have hit that area in the past days. What I can not accept is the fact of cancelling within a short time, not allowing me reaction to book somewhere else in that area.
This is the first time this happens to me and this is why I will never recommend this hotel. This can happen to anyone and the customer is not covered. Finally, the hotel mentioned it was going to be closed in this period and I have passed in front of it and you can see activities with cars in the parking lot.
I’m a very disappointed!
Try somewhere else
People were pretty nice and friendly, I’ll say that for the place, but too many negatives.
No hot water in our shower.
Check out time is 10 am, which is just too dang early!
The restaurant has a very uninspired menu: burgers, wings, quesadillas, just fair pub grub, and it’s the only restaurant.
And, there is no beach!
This place is built on the only strip on the beach where the rocks go right to the water, so there is a man-made sand spot with some chairs, but it’s raised up above the rocks.
You can walk out some stairs, down the rocks and over, and get to the water.
Very little parking.
Clean.
A bit snippy on the rules too…don’t hang your wet clothes or towels on your balcony…don’t move the pool furniture etc. Check out other options

From the outside, it looks great. We got our room and walked through a maze to get there.
Once we got the room it looked like a jail cell.
The hard mattress on a concrete slab against the wall.
Horrible small room!
