Lying Sales Sharks Ruined Our Stay
The resort and everyone from check-in, activities and housekeeping were wonderful but lying sales sharks completely ruined our experience at the Point at Poipu. We were convinced by the concierge to attend an “Owner’s Update” since we have never attended one.
We are timeshare owners with a resort which Diamond took over a few years back. The concierge claimed we will learn about many wonderful things Diamond is doing to improve all of the resorts and programs.
Oh, boy was that a big lie. “Owner’s Update” is a high-pressure sales pitch to get existing owners to buy more. We said no to everything that was offered, but at the end when we supposed to take a “survey” (another ploy to sell) on the update, we were presented with an opportunity to try Diamond’s upgraded points system for 18 month called “The Sampler”.
We thought it was a good program based on what the sales sharks said (our BIG mistake) so we decided to give it a try. But within hours, we realized we were scammed. Many of the attributes of the Sampler which were promised by the sales team were complete lies.
We tried to cancel the membership immediately but the whole team (including the management) insulted us by calling us liars and that we made up stories to rescind our membership….which to our surprise is not cancellable or refundable. The cost is $2995.00. Diamond is the most unethical company I have experienced….this experience makes me feel like I’d rather be at a used car sales office.
Please don’t attend any of their “presentations” or “updates”. I am writing this review so to prevent more people from becoming diamond victims.
Diamond really took their sale pitch to a level that is just downright wrong.

Time share presentation - diamond resort
Be careful of these diamond resort presentations.
The sales person was very friendly and helpful.
Then at the end after saying no, the hospitality representative comes and tries to sell a final deal.
After you say no in a polite way to her, she made a rude and judging statement to us. It was so rude and disrespectful.
It ruined how positive we felt about the presentation and thought of joining!
We will not be considering diamond resorts in the future and wouldn’t recommend to anyone.
Another Diamond Resort
Nice quite place.
Not a lot of activities at the resort and those they have they charge extra for.
Check in was nothing special. I’ve been Owner for 20 years and if you like being just another number than you have come to the right place.
The rooms are starting to show their age. No beach.
You can do better for the money
Got there late in the evening, didn’t tell us to park by our room rather told us to take our bags down the stairs to a bottom floor room. We struggled down with our luggage and our keys didn’t work. So back up to get new keys.
Meanwhile family is waiting at the door tired as can be. New keys didn’t work. So they sent a maintenance person, he couldn’t get it open so they gave us a new room. Not a great start.
The hotel grounds are very unkept. Not a big deal except it’s pretty unusual to have dead foliage everywhere, no flowers on trees and half dead trees in kauai. The activity and pool kiosk staff were not very nice or accommodating.
Closed the activities down 10 min early when people were waiting in line to rent movies. Just shut the window as we all looked at each other in awe. Towel personnel were rude and very snappy. I asked if She needed to count the towels before I got new ones and she rolled her eyes and said uh no while smirking. As if to say duh how stupid are you for asking. We asked her if she knew where we could get an item in town and she replied snarkly how would I know. We always laugh at diamond resorts as their motto is practice the art of saying yes to people but I think all we have ever heard from this company is no. Can we have a late check out ..no… can we stay in the same building when we move our second week.. no…and many others.
4 days in we called to see when our mid week clean would be. Oh tomorrow (day5) they said. I said well can we get fresh towels then today. They replied, oh you have used all the towels we gave you already? What?? Yes I believe 4 days using the same towel is pretty good. It was weird.
Bedrooms were small and beds were a double or two twins and a king. Otherwise rooms were well stocked and comfortable.
The pool was small and shallow. We barely spent time there because it’s just not a tropical feel area like one would expect.
There was construction everywhere. Made the place look dumpy. Cleaning staff and maintenance staff were nice. Our second week getting out of the dungeon from the first week and finally getting our ocean view was awesome.
Best part of this resort was our second week view.
All in all Not worth the money.
We bought timeshare weeks off an owner and we were charged resort fees in addition.
Had no idea as we have never paid this with any other timeshare company.
A disappointing resort.
TIME-SHARE experience Awful
To start we did not stay at this property however, attended a very strange time-share experience and I hope writing this review can save someone this awkward experience which left a bad taste in our mouths. I hope this is the right property owned by Diamond Resorts.
We currently own a Marriott timeshare so this was not our first rodeo.
The sales rep was nice, but the situation was weird and very high pressure. Terms kept changing and it felt very desperate to us. They asked us some very personal and awkward questions and the reps were phoney.
It was similar to being in a used car lot. We walked the property and found it depressing.
Hardly any people but many working on the grounds which were nice.
The pool area was very attractive (on the plus side).
The property was overpriced and not a good value but yet they will say anything to manipulate the consumer. We have a very bad feeling —- Buyer Beware!
Disappointing
As a Diamond owner, we travelled from Australia to stay at this resort. This was our 2nd visit to the Poipu area and I think I much preferred my previous stay at Poipu Plantation.
On this occasion we stayed in a 2 bedroom garden view unit. The gardens at the entrance were a disgrace as was the mess in the carpark due to construction.
Resort employees were also driving the golf carts with little regard for those around them, so it was not a very welcoming sight.
The unit we had was nice enough, but the constant noise all over the place, especially in the pool area was a very bad distraction.
Sun lounges were hard to come by and guests were leaving their belongings on them and then disappearing for hours.
Even though this property is ocean front, there is no beach.
There is no shop on site for basic provisions and the one eating place had a very limited menu.
The pool is surrounded by very coarse sand, painful to the feet.
The management of Diamond would do well to look at the welcoming state of the nearby Hyatt resort – especially considering how much Diamond owners pay in fees.
All in all, a very disappointing stay and we won’t be back.
If any Australians are considering purchasing Diamond membership and visiting these resorts – I don’t recommend it.
