First time at Lanzarote with toddler using RCI exhange weeks
We had a week stay in August 2018. With a 2 year old it was disappointing to have apartment 255 directly opposite the bar . Most nights our daughter never slept well at all including the parents . I totally appreciate the entertainment is needed and it’s great they provide this but for our small family a room a little further away would have been better. I just found the whole location of the room an issue eg beer barrels at bottom of stairs , knocking the buggy into it and the view was poor eg I don’t want to see people drinking and watching football on my holiday.
On check in no one explained there was buggy access despite seeing myself and my partner manually carry the buggy over the stepped entrance . After a 4.5 hour flight our daughter was hungry and no High chair in our room which was odd so we got one ourselves from the bar .
We did a lot for ourselves eg daily bin changes , cleaned roomed and got towels . No one until I complained bothered to service the room for 4 days .
The staff were apologetic and they are lovely and someone did call me to discuss my issues which I appreciated.
However as a life long RCI timeshare owner I would not be coming back here , we have been to other Canary Islands and this falls way below the standards a young family would expect.
Fill out your details below and we’ll get straight back.

Old Style Timeshare
Average time share complex.
The Internet facility is completely rubbish and did not work at all whilst we were there.
Food in Bar 361 was appalling so never ate in there again. Stayed in better places
For a timeshare exchange more than adequate for Spain
You always compare with other exchange experiences and this is very favourable. It did what we wanted so this is a positive review.
Reception is efficient and the offer of help with luggage was appreciated. Use their services for airport transfer, our return was 6 euros as we shared with another couple, how is that for value!
The apartment is adequately equipped, all you need but no dishwasher, but if you are not using the kitchen to cook does this matter….not to us. The beds and sofa and chair were comfortable, wi fi worked and towels were changed twice, beds once in the week.
It has the feel of a well managed resort, kept clean andwell maintained.
There is a small on site shop for basics, a larger but still small supermarket within 200 yards.
It is uphill from the beach but if you zig zag and do not use the steep route it is easily done, some reviews tend to put too much stress on the slope.
Your experience we think, depends on where you are allocated within the complex and what you are wanting out of it. To us allocation in Callas I or II with morning to afternoon sun looks by far the best, some apartments look to get all day sun, we had no morning sun and we would have preferred this as we were then out all day.
There are three pools, small and cleaned daily. Ample sun beds if you want to stay in and use them. There are two areas to eat we used the bar type are for an early evening drink and had a take away one evening staying in with a bottle of wine to watch the world rugby league on Sky in the apartment. One evening we used the 361 restaurant, again not exceptional but very acceptable and not overpriced from an adequate menu.
So if you are like us, looking for winter sun and a place to use as a base, then this is more than adequate for an exchange timeshare or relatively inexpensive rental but there is a great deal of choice and when you arrive here eating out and local bus services are very inexpensive.
NOT a hotel for families with young children
My husband and I spent a week at Las Calas in July, with our two children aged 3 and 6, as family members own a timeshare there. It was a last minute decision and one that we regret making as this apartment complex is in no way suitable for younger children despite all the ‘rave’ reviews on here and we felt our holiday was spoilt on a number of occasions. Having seen the clientele I do not think the category family should be allowed as an option as the age demographic is definitely much older and does not refer to children but grown ups. I only wish that the reviews and marketing was not so misleading as we would have never chosen this place.
To sum up our stay:
Positives – apartments were clean, some of the staff were really nice, lifeguard was very good when my daughter cut her foot on broken glass by the pool (if you can call that a positive!). We made the holiday good in the end by spending our days at the beach which was lovely and evenings eating out (there are some lovely restaurants in the area).
Negatives – kids club did not care for all children age wise and was very restrictive (the staff looked sheepish while apologising as they push this as a big selling point) there are 2 small kids pools that were freezing and could not be used for longer periods of time as our children’s lips turned blue from the cold. Given that we had 2 small children I’m baffled why they put us in Calas 1 which only has an adult pool and very limited space. The sun loungers were limited and you could not get a place on any day as people left their towels out to reserve while spending half the day indoors. The food in Skyline was awful. The staff at both bars were more often than not completely disinterested and very slow at taking orders. Some of the evening entertainment was nice (the female due were fun and nice to listen to) but was completely spoilt by the fact that they decided to hold it all in the small and awkwardly shaped skyline bar instead of the much bigger 360 restaurant. There were many broken things during out stay including glass on the pool floor (dangerous), our magnetic lock (very inconvenient) and a large number of sun loungers (can’t figure out why as they charge €15 for utilities and a fee per day for mattress hire!).
I do not like leaving negative reviews but I feel I should to at least give a more realistic view on this place for families with children
Staff excellent - resort average
Went here through timeshare and do not know how it got Gold Crown status!
Apartments and public areas are very clean and staff excellent particularly the reception except Maria who needs to go back to her admin duties and stay away from public.
Beds are narrow and mattress need changing.
Lanzarote is a windy small island and the 3 resort pools, although heated were still too cold for swimming. Loads of good restaurants – try Terranyaki at Enjoy on the promenade.
It is fabulous as is La Cascada in the old town.
Taxis within the town cheap but use trips or hire a car for longer journeys. Resort now has a lift but there are still quite a lot of steps and walking around town there are lots of hills.
