Disappointed!
We usually go to jardines del sol by diamond resorts but thought we would give Club del Carmen a visit for a change. I requested a refurb but it did not materialise! Our apartment was adequate size wise but very tired, dated, in need of refurbishment and frankly not as clean as we would have liked! There was a lump of chewing gum on the front of the chest of drawers in the living room and it was still there when we left! My husband is bald and I have short blonde hair so to still have the remains of long black hair behind the bathroom door and on the wall tiles was a little off-putting!
We have always been impressed by the standard of health and safety at poolside in all Diamond Resorts at C del C it is non-existent! The lifeguard has been verbally abused by children and parents so many times he turns a blind eye to the throwing in of children and adults into the pool and the wearing of t-shirts etc in the pool! The crush of those holidaymakers who are intent on a sunbed is an accident waiting to happen! All rules are flouted! You cannot put a towel on a bed to reserve is laughable! I counted forty-five beds unattended for two hours or more after greedy holidaymakers had shoved and pushed their way to hog them!
This was meant to be a special week as I recovered from illness, We will never return here! NOT DIAMOND STANDARDS AT ALL! A shame because the Reception staff and staff in the very good restaurant were helpful and most courteous!

WARNING
My wife and I booked one week in Club del Carmen, December 2014. Unfortunately, I encountered sudden and unexpected heart trouble – resulting in a triple bypass mid-November. Unfortunately, too, Club del Carmen have a policy of NO REFUNDS, not even a discounted future stay (for such a serious and unexpected event!). Be warned and be in great health.

over booked
we arrived here to be told the roof had let rain in to our room and that there was no other room the manager was very rude and said they had booked us into a 4 star hotel in Arrecife when we arrived it was 1 star hotel and dirty we booked the holiday with travel republic when we phoned them they said the hotel had over booked and they had not been told as the club del carmen said the had told them so the roof was a lie we asked to see the room but the manager refused we have since found out this has happened before we had to move to another hotel on the other side of the island what a let down we had to move three times in 2 days
Desperate Customer Service
We have just returned from Lanzarote and have booked Club del Carmen for next year. After passing it each day this year we were very excited at the prospect of staying there next year. However, I am pregnant and am looking to change the dates of the holiday to accommodate this but the hotel is being very difficult in this situation. It feels as if our holiday there is ruined before it has even begun. I cannot believe that a hotel could be so difficult when taking the circumstances into account.
Where’s the sunbeds?
When one pays a considerable sum of money for a week-long stay, it seems rational to expect at least one sun bed. However, this is apparently an excessive request. At approximately 8:30 every morning, the pool area becomes swamped. Upon the release of sunbeds at 9:00, a scrum ensues to wrestle for sun beds and space around the pool. Whilst I appreciate this is not the fault of the hotel, we were told when checking in that it was “not allowed to reserve sunbeds, and towels left on for more than 20 minutes would be removed”. This has simply not been the case and my family find themselves forced to leave the resort every day should we wish to spend time in the sun. We have stayed here many times over many years. There is no question in my mind that this problem is getting worse with no sign of a logical fix. I am disappointed to have had to write this review, but this problem makes our visits here untenable and it seems right to make this clear to others who may book.
Noisy, building works terrible.
Get to hotel, noisy building works can’t sit around the pool and this is supposed to be a diamond resort. I wouldn’t even class it as rusted steel!
There was a small notice on reception and we are now told it will be like this for the duration!
Reception – we apologise but it is what it is
Beware hidden costs
The rooms are clean and modern albeit noisy. Who wants their morning alarm call to be the upstairs neighbours using the toilet? You hear EVERYTHING. Location is great, a 5-10 mins walk to the bars and restaurants. What sets this place back is the hidden costs. What hotel these days charges for wi-fi? And charges for the safe? Then puts a sign in your room saying the hotel isn’t responsible for any losses. Also had to pay a 100 euro deposit and sign a release form that they could use any photos they took of me sunbathing by the pool. Really? This place would get top marks if they just put the customer first.
Not Diamond standard at all
Lucky we only stayed here for 2 nights at the end of our holiday. The room was not up to standard at all it was tatty dirty and very small and cramped. The resort is also very cramped and not a nice area at all I would not choose to come back here but if I had to come back I would request a ground floor that has been refurbished otherwise you have to carry all your cases up 3 flights of narrow stairs which are not ideal at all.
Disappointing revisit
This is my sixth visit here and I have loved it until this holiday( I am still here)
Major reservations going on which can’t be helped, but to my horror, the whole pool areas are surrounded by a glass wall to ensure nobody fall in!!!! Which may I add is closed off at 6.30 pm
I have been enjoying floating on my lido all week but now this isn’t allowed either!!!
What is going on with this place rules, rules rules health and safety gone completely bonkers.
I am so glad I did not join up to Diamond Resorts!!!
