Glorified Motel
If you’re desperate to stay in downtown Gatlinburg, Town Square is okay.
But it doesn’t compare to Summer Bay or the many other resorts we’ve stayed in.
Staff was nice but we won’t be recommending the facilities.
Gatlinburg Town Square
The plus to this resort is the location. Parking at the resort is awful, but the resort is walking distance from downtown. You can get to many things on foot. Rooms are decent. Unless I could stay creekside, I probably wouldn’t come back.
HOTEL NOT AS ADVERTISED -- FEEL SCREWED OVER
Reserved room at Gatlinburg Town Square Resort. Pictures showed a High Rise and advertised an Indoor Pool, nice fitness facility and really nice rooms. When we arrived to check-in, we were informed that the reservation was for a motel (they owned) 2 blocks down the street, and that we could the resorts indoor pool and exercise, etc. if we wanted to walk 2 blocks down the street. They had also put us in a 2nd floor room, we can’t climb stairs due to physical problems, they did re-assign to a 1st floor room in the back – BUT THE CARPET WAS DIRTY, THE ROOM SMELLED BAD, AND JUST PLAIN DID NOT LOOK GOOD And was dark and dingy.
We had previously seen the building we were supposed to be at, and it was fairly nice. But the replacement was a best a 1 Star. After a lengthy discussion, they credited us what they had charged us, and we went on our search for another hotel in a very crowded Gatlinburg. Luckily we found a place after 40 minutes that was nice, had indoor pool, etc.
This “BAIT & SWITCH” DEAL left us with a bad taste in our Mouths.. TRIP ADVISOR HAD FARMED OUR RESERVATION OUT TO PRICE-LINE TO BOOK FOR THEM.. And this was where we ended up.. in a 3rd class small hotel 2-3 blocks away that didn’t have the amenities..
The hotel re-charged us for the room since Price-line had already charged us for the cost, we had to get the Town Square people to refund (credit) what they charged us and then get Priceline to refund (credit) what they had charged us.
Just say — 2 Very Unhappy Senior Citizens. we are still waiting 2 days later for the 2 credits to re-appear on our credit card..
Very disappointing accommodations
We were at the Gatlinburg Town Square Resort as a promotional from Exploria Resorts, Summer Bay, which we own. We were given an efficiency lock-out that was handicapped accessible.
Neither of us is handicapped and were very upset with the accommodations. The motel (Days Inn)where we stayed in coming to Gatlinburg were way better than this. The room had a double bed one end table, a sofa and a small round table with two chairs.
The “kitchen” had a two-burner stove, a microwave and an under-the-counter refrigerator. The only cabinet/closet was one over the sink that had the dishes and glasses and two drawers under the stove that had the flatware, cooking utensils, pots, cleaning aids, etc.. NO OTHER PLACE TO HANG UP OR PUT OUR CLOTHES AWAY IN, ETC! The bathroom had only two hooks on the back of the door.
There was a small TV that was in one of the closets next to the sink. If the doors were opened, then you couldn’t cook. I do understand the resort is being refurbished but better accommodations were available. The rest of the resort looked shabby.
GATLINBURG TOWN SQUARE
Parking is always a problem at night.
We requested an early check in and we are lucky if we get in at 4:00pm.
We own there for 20 years and own a penthouse apartment, check out is 10:00am.
I would think if we requested an early check in they should be able to satisfy our request.
I think they should spruce up the place a little. The location is great the apartments are very nice. The activities are boring. I liked the improvement of the pool area and the hot tub. New furniture on the terrace is also very nice. We stay there every year and have always enjoyed it. Looking forward to next year.
Misleading reservation
I booked to be at Gatlinburg Town Square but was put at Gatlinburg Town Village.
The facilities were not as I had expected.
Wifi didn’t work most of the time, laundry facilities not properly set up.??
