Many Los Molinos timeshare owners are currently tied into contracts with Los Molinos, one of the leading timeshare schemes in Lanzarote.
There has been a huge increase in complaints and timeshare relinquishment enquires in recent months from customers with Lanzarote Timeshare Property. Owners wanting out of their timeshare agreements cite reasons such as high increase in fees including timeshare maintenance fees, consistently broken promises by the timeshare resorts owners and management team, aggressive fee collection procedures operated by the resorts owners and contracts committing owners to paying fees “in perpetuity”
Ssshhhh!!!!!
I agree with the previous comments, that this is a very quiet complex and I guess that’s were the problem lies.
Whilst this is a very large complex, only 32 apartments are holiday lets/ part of club Los Molinos, the rest are privately owned and that means a lot of rules!! These rules are enforced by the sergeant major who patrols the grounds carrying a stick (not joking) scouling at everyone. One day we asked if we could sit on an unused terrace (because it was easier for a member of our party In a wheelchair to access this terrace) and therefore move a table from the bar onto it – within minutes the sergeant major was there taking pictures and reporting us to the president of the residents association! She then came storming across the complex, straight into the bar and told them to remove us from the terrace as she was calling the police !! Seriously – it was ridiculous and we were absolutely disgusted at the way & the bar staff were being treated.
The poor bar manager was in tears, so we told him we would put the tables back as it wasn’t our intention to cause any trouble, we just wanted to sit with our wheelchair companion in the sunshine whilst enjoying a drink! When we referred this matter to the manager Paul – he wasn’t interested, which was so disappointing. So whilst the apartments are nice and clean and the location good for the beach, restaurants etc.. Please make sure you do not choose this complex if travelling in a group or requiring good wheelchair access.
Quiet couples, who don’t talk much, looking for a peaceful location and who abide by the rules will fit in great (honestly I even saw the pool cleaner shout at a little girl to get out of the pool, as he hadn’t finished – it was 11am!! – to the extent that she got out on the little island in the middle of the pool and was stranded as she was too scared to get in back In the water).
Safe to say I will not be returning, which is a shame as the location was good

Pleasant 2 week stay
My wife and I stayed at Club Los Molinos for 2 weeks from 17 November in a 1 bedroom apartment, 5202. The apartment was very clean and well appointed. We had the luxury of 2 balconies which added to the space available. The complex was large with many of the apartments being privately owned, however, it was quiet with plenty of loungers around the pool and not many takers. This may have been due to the pool being unheated and we were not brave enough to venture in. The pool and surrounding grounds were exceptionally clean and well maintained. The location was good with a short walk to 2 supermarkets and plenty of restaurants. A short walk through Playa Bastian complex brought you to the sea and a lengthy promenade walk each way. Turn left and within 10 – 15 minutes you are in the centre of Costa Teguise with more restaurants, bars and entertainment.
During our stay, we had a plumbing problem with the shower water taking an age to drain. On reporting this within a few minutes a worker arrived to deal with the matter, unfortunately, this helped but did not rectify the problem. Again reported and a quick response and the problem was solved – what some people put down the drains is interesting!!.
The only wifi is within the resident’s lounge and is rather slow and at time frustrating, however, there are a number of bars locally who offer free wifi, did not use therefore cannot comment of their speed.
A very comfortable 2 weeks stay and looking forward to returning next year.
A really restful week.
A really restful week.
My wife and I spent a week in a lovely, refurbished apartment in Los Molinos from 29th May until 5th June 2014. The booking was through our Malta-based holiday Club, Access2 Leisure.
We have stayed here many times in the past but this week was probably the best experience to date.
Our apartment had recently been redecorated and modernised and was positioned to have lovely afternoon and evening sunshine. We loved it!
The welcome from the two Paul’s and Soraya is always warm and they will do their very best to make everything comfortable.
Los Molinos is well positioned in a quiet area but is also very convenient for the beaches and town. The pool area is exceptionally clean and well maintained. The staff are constantly brushing and cleaning the pool and general area. There are numerous pool loungers and adequate shade facilities to make a day by the pool a real pleasure.
The Club itself is well resourced with book and video borrowing facilities, free laundry and member’s lounge.
The wifi is free and available in the lounge. One big negative is the absence of decent UK TV channels. We REALLY wish BBC and ITV channels could be available. If they were we would love to book longer stays in this great place.
We hope to return again soon.
Another visit to Los Molinos through Access 2 Leisure.
My wife and I have stayed a Los Molinos in Costa Teguise, Lanzarote on many occasions during recent years. We are owners through Access2 Leisure , the Malta-based holiday company.
We really enjoy Los Molinos as the Access 2 Leisure staff are really friendly and helpful. The two Paul’s and Soraya always go the extra mile to be accommodating.
The accommodation is a little dated and in need of refurbishment but still comfortable and adequate for our needs. It is excellent to have the availability of the little Resident’s lounge with washing machine and satellite TV. Beds could be more comfortable. The satellite TV in the apartments needs updating so that more UK channels are available. The Los Molinos pool area is excellent and extremely well maintained and the complex is very convenient for shops, beaches and the Costa Teguise village itself.
When we bought our Contract with Access2 Leisure a number of years ago we had serious reservations about its suitability but as time has progressed we can really say with confidence that the provision is working for us. We have recently retired and now that our contract has been tailored to meet our travel needs,we find that we have available a wide range of affordable holidays on a worldwide basisLos Molinos is our bolt hole, especially in the UK winter months but A2l offers a very wide selection of hotels, cruises and self-catering apartments through the Exchange Programme all year round.
The staff in the office in Malta are so very helpful when booking online and always go the extra mile. We know because we are fairly demanding and always say what we feel.We have just stayed (July 2013) in Ocean Reef Yacht Club Resort in Freeport, Grand Bahamas. This was organised by Access 2 leisure and we look forward to two weeks in Club Riza, Malta in August 2013.
From buying our package with A2L in Los Molinos, Costa Teguise, Lanzarote in 2005 the world of affordable travel has opened up to us. Our advice to potential buyers is to ensure that the Contract you purchase is suitably tailored to meet your needs.
Great holiday at club los Molinos
Just returned from a 4 week stay at Los Molinos. Very good location and within easy walking distance of the main square which has an abundance of restaurants and pubs.
Best value on the island for a great steak is Hennessy on the waterfront. Richard the owner is a great host and very welcoming.
Costa Teguise is a great area for walking and outdoor activities, great beaches also.
We had sunshine every day . Special mention for The Terrace bar in Los Molinos.
Margaret serves delicious snacks and meals all home cooked with a good dollop of Scotish hospitality.
The Cavern Bar just a few minutes walk has entertainment every night. Sat. night is especially good. Dave is the best barman on the Island . Table staff were also great, especially Becky.
Would recommend this area without hesitation as its laid back with no fuss.
This is our 5th visit. Will definitely go back there in a couple of years. We visited this area and stayed in a private apt not with a2l.
Petty rules rule!!
Mostly positive about this sprawling well-designed complex, with a few reservations.
First the good bits, you won’t find this hotel on many tourist companies websites, the apartments are split between timeshare and private owners, this means that despite our recent visit at half term there was never a problem getting a sunbed. The location of the complex is excellent, 15 minutes from the square and some decent eateries a few minutes away.
The design of both the apartments and the complex was excellent, special mention about the pool and surrounding areas being really superb, a massive well cleaned pool and spacious sun bed areas made for a relaxing stay by the pool.
Now the downside, we privately rented a room and trying to find it wasn’t easy, despite the directional prompts on the wall, this complex is big! Our apartment was spacious with 2 beds/ bathrooms and a decent lounge area, the kitchenette was small but ok. The major problem was it’s location, literally across the road from Dickens Bar with music and chat going on most nights until 1/2 am, 9 nights of ‘Chirpy chirpy cheep cheep’ and other 70’s classics got a bit much.
We also found the wooden window and door frames warped and not easy to open and close.
However the biggest issue with this complex is its completely absurd rules around the pool area, with particular reference to a complete ban on inflatables of any sort, no fun for the kids here despite a wonderful pool. These rules were enforced and overseen from a surly sergeant major type figure who patrolled the grounds daily with military precision, as holidaymakers you want to relax, we found this difficult with this guy patrolling around, he even had a walking stick which he turned into a military swagger stick, really quite comic
By the way don’t leave your towels on the sunbed whilst you have a bite to eat you could have them whisked away!
Overall a decent place, good value but not really set up for young families.
Disappointed.
Having read all the reviews, we were looking forward to our holiday. After a delayed flight and a baggage handlers strike, we arrived a bit travel weary and on being shown round the apartment everything seemed OK. However, while unpacking we pulled back the shower curtain and the bath was full of dead flies and mosquitos. The corners of the bedrooms and living area were the same – it had the feel of nobody having previously used this apartment for a long time.
The 2 cooking rings were a joke, even after 20 minutes the water in a saucepan wasn’t even warm. The grounds and pool area were very neat and tidy, but although we enjoyed our time round the pool, it was spoiled by a lack of sunbeds (there is a problem between timeshare and owners here, 30 odd timeshare apartments and the rest are owned. Only 2 sun beds per apartment even if there’s more than 2 staying – really??)
The other problem is that about 3 pm every afternoon there was an influx of totally unruly, uncivilised and more to the point, unsupervised children (not sure if they were just locals or residents), they thought nothing of jumping in at the deepest part of the pool, just in front of people who were having a gentle swim!! (Furthermore, these unruly children used the pool as a toilet on one day and the grounds an had to get his fishing net out, if you follow!! Not what we wanted.
The other main problem we had was workmen sanding down the exterior of the apartment above our patio – swimwear on the dryer, and all the patio furniture were covered. Swimwear had to be washed again and my husband complained about the state of the patio.
All in all, if you got a modern apartment your holiday would be lovely here, but it would seem the residents win every time. I personally wouldn’t waste my timeshare points here again!
