Room quality varies dramatically.
I really wanted to give this hotel a three-star rating, but as I wrote this review I realized that it did not warrant it.
The desk staff were so pleasant and helpful that they deserved a much higher review but the hotel did not. This is an all suites hotel with typically thoughtful Marriott bedding and amenities and we had a perfectly nice three night stay for Harvard graduation.
However, as in many old buildings, the water pressure was inadequate and the truly terrible shower controls did not help at all. The handles stuck and were confusing to operate and the water pressure was inadequate to truly rinse out all the shampoo.
There are only two elevators for this 19 story building and one was out of order for our first day or so. Imagine! Also the rooms are not all equal. The corner suites have bedrooms that are sure to cause nightmares to claustrophobes or anyone wanting a view.
Despite an enviable potential view the corner bedrooms have one lone window that is below eye level and barely big enough to be called an arrow slit. Seriously. The center suites have beautiful windows in both rooms with an expansive city view. We changed rooms and were very glad we did.
Ask for a center suite.
Terrible Customer Service
It is sad I have to write this review, but the people of Marriott did not care to help my family out. I booked a reservation to arrive January 12th to the 15th of this month for a funeral. Our plans changed slightly and we had to shift our arrival date to the 13th.
When trying to make the change, the system would not do so. We called the Hotel and they said we had to change it online. We tried to change it online and it said to call the reservations line. We then called the reservations line and they said they couldn’t change it and we had to call the Hotel!!! Absolutely ridiculous.
After a bunch of back and forth conversation, they made the correction for us to arrive on the 13th and leave on the 15th and they would send us a new confirmation. We never received the updated confirmation via email so my husband called today and they had our dates coming in the 12th-14th NOT the 13th to the 15th. They then said “sorry” they were sold out on the 14th and couldn’t make the correction for us as there were no rooms available.
It is bad enough we are having to come in for a funeral but we wanted our kids to be in a hotel that was kid friendly with lots for them to do and we can no longer provide that for them.
We had to cancel our reservations all together and book elsewhere. We are NOT staying at a Marriott property nor do I believe we will in the future. Thank you very much, Marriott, for your lack of ability to book reservations or problem solve. Because of your team’s incompetence, we have to scramble to find other arrangements during an already difficult time.
Great hotel; TERRIBLE STREET NOISE at 3am
Great location but you can hear ALL the street noise/bars.
We were on the 12th floor and at 2am the street noise was SO LOUD, you could not possibly sleep unless you like thumping club music!!
Called down to the front desk … They said it would quiet down in 20 minutes. It did. It. There was no apology and he practically blamed us for staying on the wrong side of the hotel.
I would NOT stay here unless you want to be awake at all hours of the night. It was like staying in a club.
WARNING: If you’re staying here – Bring good earplugs and a noise machine!!
Very unwelcoming
Check in process was not welcoming at all.
I was not informed of all the amenities.
The lady at the front desk said that there were only low floors available when there wasn’t.
They also rush you to check out
Very disappointing!
We were made aware prior to booking that there was new construction being done on the adjacent property. That didn’t affect our decision but the re-painting and various other improvements being done while the hotel is at full capacity and during a peak time was disturbing.
This hotel attempted to put us in a room with scaffolding on our patio, which is dangerous for our 2 small children. We finally get to our other room and it’s nice although we didn’t realize the new construction on that adjacent property would be starting at 730am every morning.
Now the really disappointing part; the management or lack thereof at this motel apparently does not realize painting and having numerous handyman jobs going on during peak vacation time is not pleasant for its patrons.
Re-wiring speakers, working on sprinklers, painting, concrete repair, etc was a hassle for our family as we had to either move and or stop or avoid an area while work was being done.
Management should be fired over this and then the genius management thinks sending me an invite to buy property here was wise.
I can not recommend this Marriott property for a family vacation unless you go during the off-season when work on the property does not happen.
Worst customer service ever
Checked in on a Sunday and really looked forward to a great Mariott.
The front desk people were the worst most unprofessional people I’ve ever experienced.
Felt like we were not welcome as renters, not owners.
Bellman took the tip and we had to bring luggage in from parking lot…
