Diamond Resorts Cove on Ormond Beach

I will say The Cove has an excellent staff to provide you with any needs you have.

The grounds were clean, as was the room. The area was spacious.

Our one bedroom in the South Tower was well kept and had pretty much everything you needed to prepare a meal. This resort caters to the Family Group. The majority had children and the rest were couples.

I wasn’t fond of the pool closing at 8pm as they have a 4pm check in.

I found it hard to settle in with kids (unpack find swim suits and lather up sunscreen) and make a decent trip to the pool.

We had to do a late dinner to even enjoy time at the pool the first night. With the time change and it getting dark later I found the pool hours odd. The pool doesn’t open till 9 am which if you plan to have a breakfast outdoors or even enjoy the sun rising you must do it along the beach.

They do offer grills and all utensils for checkout in the office however there is only 3. Plan to hang out by the grilling area and get in line if you plan to use these as everyone had the same idea :) I think they have done a decent job at keeping the grounds clean and secure, however I still think there is room for improvements. The main focus seems to be a clean strict environment. It could benefit to be more user friendly. Im debating a timeshare and I’m just not sold here. I’d give it another shot though.

Sorry to do this, but after this morning I have to and here’s why.

We checked in yesterday, Saturday May 16, 2015. Nowhere on your website does it state check out time. I rechecked just a little while ago. We found out as we checked in that it was 10:00 am. This is fine, but we explained we were here for the Tomoka Triathlon. The race started at 6:50 am which is when the first wave of swimmers go. My husband started this race at 7:00 am. So yesterday we asked if we could get a later checkout, possibly 11:00 am as he’s not an elite athlete. 1 hour later is not much to ask for and we just wanted to shower and have a little time to get ourselves together. Yesterday both people at the check in desk said no right out of the gate, we could possibly call in the morning and check. Then after checking in, you go to another desk area to receive bracelets to go to the pool area and you have to endure a sales pitch to buy or get more reservations at another resort. The woman trying to sell this smelled like she came from a nearby happy hour. She was very short in her attitude when we declined. The room is clean, no question. But you may also want to have help on hand for those that reserve a studio as it has a murphy bed. Not everyone may be physically able to handle this.

Today as my husband completed his triathlon and we gathered up our gear, we arrived back at the hotel at 9:30 am. Again a request from us to the two ladies behind the desk ended with a sharp NO and an apology, an explanation of how “House Keeping” says no to any late checkouts. House Keeping decides this????? So we rush upstairs, 5 flights because the elevator seems to be painstakingly slow. And really from what I saw, House Keeping associates seemed to be just arriving. This is upsetting because it seems like this could be a nice place to stay, but if you’re aligning your hotel with an athletic event, you have a lot to learn. Tomoka Triathlon lists The Cove as a possible choice among others on the list.

When looking for a place to stay for this event, yes online Cove in Ormond Beach looks nice and was conveniently close to the race.

But not all people participating are elite, fast people and if you look over the photos from the triathlon and research finish times and starting times you will see that it’s just a great mix of athletic abilities.

So those of us that participate may just love what we are doing and we’re not so fast. Having looked at facets of a triathlon, marathon to 5k and everything in between and beyond, you may want to reconsider having this hotel available for the guests that choose to do these type of events. And, if you stay on with this, keep in mind the guest finishing the event and what all may go into training for these races.

But I get the overall impression from staying there and dealing with the people that work there, that if you’re not buying into the resort, making reservations for future stays or buying a timeshare, you shouldn’t have checked in. Sorry, but I will never ever stay here!

Check in was a little quirking since there is a North & South tower bldg. No signage indicating to check in at North tower upon arrival after parking at south tower lot. Front desk person was very nice and informative at check-in. However you are then directed to carnicare for the “push” to sign up for a 3 nite reduced rate offer with $50 visa gift card for future stay within 18 months at any of their resorts & additional 4th nite if you sit in on 2hr presentation to buy a timeshare with Diamond Resorts upon your next stay. I had Murphy bed studio on 5th floor. Room was clean but found microwave door edge and refrigerator gasket edge to have not been thoroughly cleaned. Other than that room was comfortable and clean. Outside temps were low 40s at nite and mid 50s to 60s this time of year. Heating in room is hot air and tends to dry air out, bring nasal spray! Heated pool and spa provided but I did not use any of amenities provided. There is additional $11 and change charge per day for hotel fees at check in not included in price I paid for stay.

I would recommend this hotel if price meets your criteria.

When I rent a CONDO WITH 1 BEDROOM, I expect to be hosted in a 1 BEDROOM CONDO. This unit is a TIMESHARE with what we can call a den (not a bedroom)

The concept of condo and timeshare differs not only by its legal definition but by its style management and, by extension, the expectations that result. If I wanted a TIMESHARE type accommodation, I would search in this direction.

On the concept of BEDROOM. The Act and the Florida Building Code, a BEDROOM must necessarily be located along an outside wall and minimally contain as the output window relief. However, the bedroom was located in a landlocked local, not on an exterior wall and contained no window or emergency exit. This practice is ILLEGAL in Florida. I consider that this practice is worrisome in terms of safety and it is unacceptable to advertise it as a bedroom. On my side, I have never slept in a bedroom without windows or exit and I did not feel safe.

Booked this facility by Expedia; called them but by the time they called the manager and took care of this issue, it was almost time to check-out.

It’s a Diamond timeshare which is all you need to know. The place is old and tired. Stayed in the north tower.

The staff is nice and they really try hard. It’s right on the beach which is great for the kids.

We stayed there when they were doing construction on the balconies which made things worse. My PSA – Never buy a timeshare. You will turn 10’s of thousands of dollars into 0. Actually worse than zero because you will have to pay to get rid of the obligation.
