Average Hotel in a Great Location
The decor in the hotel is bland and dated, the bar is expensive and has no character, hence it’s empty even when the hotel is full. The hotel is in a good location, close to the Marina with lots of good bars and restaurants within walking distance.
Don‘t stay here - it’s not 4 star!!
I’m currently staying at the Dom Pedro Marina. We go home in a couple of days. The hotel claims to be 4 star and I can confirm that it’s nowhere near 4 star. A few things you need to be careful of…
1 – there are not enough sun loungers for guests and when raised with the hotel the response was ‘if they’re taken, they’re taken’
2 – breakfast is extremely poor and again not enough room for guests resulting in a cattle Market type atmosphere and long queues while you wait for a table and very poor selection of breakfast food
3 – the rooms, while clean, are very dated. I haven’t had to thump a tv to get sound since I was a little girl. The shower is over an incredibly narrow bath – so narrow in fact that it’s practically impossible to stand i in without putting one foot in front of the other!
4 – BEWARE OF THE GUEST SERVICES ‘WELCOME MEETING’ you may get a call from a sprightly guest services person inviting you to a ‘welcome meeting’ to give you information on Vilamoura etc… THIS IS A SCAM TO ENTICE YOU INTO BUYING TIMESHARE. My husband and I foolishly believed the welcome meeting deception and went along. We were still there over 2 hours later while they showed us the ‘amazing’ accommodation we could expect if we signed up!! Again extremely dated. Having stayed in 4 and 5 star accommodation around the world needless to say we were not impressed!!
Having said that the pool itself is quite nice (if you can find the pool boy to get a towel) and Vilamoura itself is absolutely beautiful. We’d definitely come back to this resort but would not stay with Dom Pedro Marina.
Excellent location but.......
Stayed here for a family holiday in early August with 3 kids. Hotel located in an exceptional location with very short walking distance to both Marina and beach. Family Rooms were clean and serviced regularly, and the hotel itself and staff (generally) of high quality. However, the hotel seems to be very confused, whether it should cater for golfing parties or young families as in my opinion it does neither well.
The lack of any evening entertainment (I’m not suggesting kids club or such like) actually forces young families down for the marina area for entertainment, bar and breakfast staff are not very kids accommodating (again more targeted at different clientele than young families), and the pool is extremely small for 11/9 yr olds to have fun in.
Other feedback for hotel management;
1) it is unbelievable that a hotel charging so much can have such poor wifi throughout the hotel. When raised with the staff they merely said its fine in the hotel lobby but not anywhere else!!!!!
2) if you are going to make an effort to provide champagne and orange juice on arrival for guests, and (accidentally or otherwise) leave people out – this only causes upset and is something that most hotels don’t mess up – this happened us and when raised at check-out as feedback it was arranged for us then!!!! I see this had cone up on other reviews.
3) we asked for a tap water jug with ice one night for kids to drink in the room. Got it the first time we asked but on the following night was refused it by a member of the bar staff who said we could drink from the tap. When I raised that it was the ice cold aspect we were looking for to give our 3 kids, one of his colleagues went and got the jug of water while the barman continued to suggest I use taps in the room. For the amount of money, we were being charged I would have thought that the barman would have offered to deliver it to our room!
4) kids games room/dungeon had a pool table, table tennis and air hockey. But again for the money the hotel charges surely it is worth considering having a free pool and air hockey table for kids to get an hour out of the sun- which is what we would have experienced in other similar priced hotels on other holidays.
it’s a bit dated
Could do with a bit of investment to brighten the place up, but overall clean & tidy.
The main issue was the very basic and generally overcooked food in the evening – felt like they were trying to save money on this aspect. Location great but we’ll be trying a nearby hotel for our next visit.
Great Location
My wife and I spent 8 nights at the Dom Pedro Marina hotel and I must say that we had a pleasant stay though the hotel is a bit jaded. We stayed on a half board basis which turned out to be a bad idea. The dinners were not great and the food was of poor quality.
On the first evening, we asked if we could have a refund on the dinners which had cost us an additional 400 Euro for the eight nights. They refused, having said that – we ate out on three nights at the marina restaurants which were very nice and extremely good value.
I Would recommend that if you are going to stay at this hotel, to go on a bed and breakfast basis only.
The Marina is only about three minutes walk from the hotel and you have a very good choice of restaurants. The hotel staff were very friendly and our bedroom was kept very clean.
The area around the swimming pool is very relaxing with a good lot of greenery.
Meals need improvement
The whole experience was a let down by the quality of the food, we felt it was poor.
The cooked breakfast was always cold as was the evening meals.
After the first 3 night we had to eat out, which we didn’t budget for
If this could be in proved it would make this a top hotel.
Nothing Special
This hotel is set in a beautiful location, close to many amenities.
However, for the price, it was rather disappointing.
On arrival, I had to take my own bags up to my room on the 5th floor (on leaving I saw other guests having their bags taken up). The door itself to the room was temperamental, sometimes it accepted the key card, sometimes not.
However, the room was large and spacious and the room was cleaned every day by the staff. My main issue is the decor, rather dated and uninspiring compared to the other hotels in the same area charging the same price (my friends stayed in 4 different hotels in the resort and so we visited each other).
Lastly, breakfast was a total disappointment.
The food was kept in large metal containers (no cook to order) and some foods appeared to have been “swimming” in oil for too long such as the eggs and the beans were tepid etc. If you like a cooked breakfast, this is not the hotel for you.
