Downward trend
We have been going to Vista Serena for quite a few years now. The rooms we have stayed in previously were always clean but needed some updating. Last year we did consider buying a timeshare here but now we are so glad we did not.
This year was the worst we have ever known it, the room was dirty and we even found jam on the work surface. We used to have a few basics available for use in the apartment like washing up liquid and scourer, but this has stopped this year.
There is no consistency when it comes to what is in your apartment so you have to keep asking for things at reception, we were short on pillows for the bed, no bed cover only a sheet and some apartments were missing basics like tin openers and bottle openers.
The shower tray was all cracked and the shower head was hanging off the wall, one evening drainage water came up through the drain cover on the bathroom floor and flooded, the smell was disgusting.
We complained and this was sorted the following morning. The maid only made the top sheet and we had to make the bed before we got in. The drinks at the pool bar were very expensive but the food was ok. The weekends seem to get very full of Spanish now, they are noisy, disruptive and have no regard for anyone else at all.
There are a lot of one-nighters, who were also noisy and children seem to be able to do what they want.
We went for 2 weeks as we meet friends there who are timeshare holders and even they were complaining.
We saw one man leave his child (about 8 months old) in the small pool while he went off to the bar to get himself a pint, only to return when the child started crying as the weight of water in their nappy started to drag him under.
There seems to be no organisation and the rules are none existent.
Having said all that the staff are friendly and we had a great time with friends. But I think we will miss a few years to see if standards improve.
Nice place
Nice place, the staff is nice and the beautiful colours of this place are unusual. I like the different ”rooms” in the social areas, the library outside is a favourite. The food in the restaurant is ok but no more than that. The drinks are great and the staff too.
The apartments are ok, the beds I pretty hard, which we prefer, the extra bed on the sofa is not the nicest thing.
The surroundings are not very good for families, it’s a long walk to a playground and also the better restaurant(s?) I would definitively go here, but with children that are from 7 years or so
Nice...
Nice place, but not worth 5 stars.
Cold water at the pool, cleaning service not very good in the room ( many colours of hair everywhere on the floor)…
Friendly staff..good location at 8 mins by car from the beach, free wifi, free parking.
Good Wifi
Charming staff.
Tatty apartments.
The staff are charming.
The wifi is fantastic – a fast individual network in every apartment.
The restaurant is good and reasonably priced.
The apartments need redecorating.
The out of the way location didn’t suit me.
There no good restaurants or bars nearby.
Taxis are cheap and easily available but still add up.
lovely pool area
Just got back from a lovely stay at this hotel.
Pros: lovely staff at the poolside bar and restaurant, a special mention for Jo who was super helpful and a good laugh. Nice reception area with a library and shower room just off it, comes in handy if you have a late flight out and want to use the pool on your last day.
Nice big bathrooms and lots of wardrobe space.
Cons: apartment décor needs updating, a few things broken like switches and lampshades.
The sofa beds are truly awful to sleep on and need replacing, they will ruin your back.
The website pictures are a little deceptive as they make the apartments look bigger than they actually are.
There is a no reserving sunbeds with towels rule but this was never once enforced the whole time we were there by any staff member, why do people do this and disappear for half the day?
All in all a nice stay would return.
