Nice place, but....
This is going to be a good, the bad and the ugly review. Firstly, the apartments are excellent. Nicely furnished, good proportions, well equipped, nice patio areas, facing the sea, sun traps with shade. Cannot fault them. The resort has a lovely pool, with a separate kids pool, lovely bar area and a nice restaurant on site. There’s a supermarket on site and we’ll manned reception. Nothing to fault.
The location is great. 500 metres either way to Puerto Rico or Amadores beaches. So that’s good.
The bad is climbing. It’s a steep 50m climb into the resort from the main road. All the apartments require a climb, even after taking the lift. Don’t underestimate the climbs.
The ugly is the ‘entertainment’ laid on around the pool. If you can stand DJ Dave and his karaoke and bingo and Abba nights then this is the resort for you.
Personally, I felt it spoilt a great resort and drove me out of the place. Oh well.
Steps steps and more steps
We booked these apartments as some of our party had stayed before.
Upon arrival, we were allocated our apartments but nobody assisted us with the cases. We were directed to the lift so we thought it would be easy. We were wrong, we got out of the lift and had approx 28 stairs to carry our luggage at no time were we told this. Some of our party had a few health issues so it would have been nice to have known. The apartment itself was very nice and well equipped.
The first morning we were sitting on our balcony in our nightclothes having a cup of tea and a Gardner jumped onto the wall to water the plants, I was a bit shocked but he just carried on he tried to water around us.
My husband got up to go inside and he ran around me and watered a plant in the corner spraying me and my husband’s chair. And then dashed off.
We had a bit of a laugh about it but some people wouldn’t.
We went on the holiday for my brothers 70th birthday so there were 31 people some young some old.
After a couple of days, the lift was taken out of commission for 4 days. We were on the first level on the lift so that was another 24 stairs some of our party was at the top which was approx 100 stairs.
They didn’t seem to be concerned that all these people were struggling up and down. We all made sure we brought whatever we needed down at the beginning of the day, as going back up wasn’t an option.
We were not offered any compensation for this problem. On the last night, they were having a bbq and it was 11 euros We had to shame them into giving it to us free and breakfast before we left. They didn’t intend to give us anything.
I would not recommend this accommodation to anybody who isn’t good on their legs.
The complex itself was quite nice but not staffed well when the restaurant was open the bar staffed were used and sometimes it took at least 10 mins to get a drink. The entertainment was pretty good except the guy running it he thought he was more important than he was. He didn’t like the fact we didn’t want to join in on his bingo and quizzes.
As there was a lot of us we made our own entertainment and helped each other.
I’m afraid I wouldn’t return here.
Never again
Firstly the room, the view, the weather was lovely that is where it ends.
Never go back again, we was in room 314 on the first floor then followed 77 steps to the room, more like first floor from the top, if your not up early in the morning around 6-45 you will not get a sunbed, if your not a timeshare owner you will pay more at the bar & for food, if you have children over 10/11 there to old for entertainment which to be honest is like going back in time, we was totally disappointed by this holiday, we asked if we could get beds around the pool & was told no, yet if your Spanish or a timeshare owner they will go all out for you, we read the reviews before we went & thought it looked the part, 10 days of pure hell, the unfriendliest apartments we have ever been to & we’ve been to many places just felt we should put an honest review if you don’t have a timeshare apartment here don’t bother you will pay over the odds & be made to feel like a lepper
Loved the Sun but HATED the stair and Sun Bed Hogger’s
We had a lovely apartment but housekeeping was not up to scratch!!! We had millions of tiny ants in our apartment!! In addition, every morning the apartment smelled like a rotten sewage.
Our water supply was also not working for approximately six hours in the morning which delayed one of the trips.
If you have any mobility issue I will not recommend this resort as there are about 900 steps and one very noisy lift!!!
POOR COMMUNICATION SKILLS
The accommodation was really lovely as are the views but we had our holiday ruined by the lift being taken out of service.
No notice was given to us and to be honest we would have booked elsewhere because some of our party had to climb 180 steps to get to their accommodation. This was a planned takedown of the service as they had flown engineers in from Switzerland.
Some staff said it was not planned others said it was we spoke to the director there who confirmed it was planned and was very stuck up her attitude was lump it or like it…well considering we had paid over £5,000 for our party to stay there and they were aware it was a 70th this really was POOR COMMUNICATION .
Entertainment was good but the guy they have running it is the laziest, big-headed animator I have every met. He never got his toes wet and his idea of entertaining children was allowing them to blow his whistle why he had a whistle we will never know. He was a total waste of space.
Some bar staff were really nice others were not happy at having to work.
