A bit of a shame

Pueblo Evita has been our hotel of choice for the last several years when visiting the Costa del Sol. It is next to Paloma Park, walking distance from Selwo Marina and the Benalmadena port area. Tivoli and the cable car are sitting walking distance but are uphill (we got a €6 uber there – not wanting to move the car – and it was a 15 minute walk back). We visited Selwo Aventura and Aqualand Torremolinos using the car. Selwo Aventura is at least 40 minutes away by car.

In the past we have driven to the resort, parked easily and either spent time around the pool or visited local attractions, as we wished. The staff are very nice and welcoming, especially at the adjacent Sam’s bar.

This time there was rarely available parking – the choice was to drive around the block repeatedly (often for over an hour) or to park a distance away (around the perimeter of Paloma Park).

This time there was a 9 am race for pool loungers (I witnessed this for 2 out of our 7 days – choosing to go offsite for the remainder). A large obese woman even tried to tip me off one lounger that I was lying on. Many loungers were then left vacant with only a towel for much of the day – despite signage stating that towels would be removed after one hour. Pool staff were rude at times (probably frustration at having to arbitrate over the frequent arguments over lack of space), although friendly on the whole.

This time maid service was advertised in the room on Tuesday and Thursday, but actually occurred on Friday and Sunday.
I thought this poor experience may be due to visiting in August, rather than in June in the past. Other regular guests told me this is not the case.

In summary the apartments remain adequate in terms of quality. The location is very good. Staff are great at reception and at Sam’s (we didn’t visit the Clubhouse this time). However, it is clear that Pueblo Evita has now outgrown its existing facilities.

We may revisit again in June to see for ourselves whether this is a seasonal issue, but we won’t be back in July / August
