Over recent years there have been a number of ground-breaking rulings regarding mis-sold timeshares by many timeshare groups and resorts which have resulted in refunds and compensation. Many owners of Mountain Valley Lodge at Breckenridge Resort timeshare contracts are entitled to, or have already made claims.
There has been a huge increase in timeshare release enquiries and complaints from customers with Mountain Valley Lodge at Breckenridge Resort timeshares. Not the nicest; sleep difficult
The best attribute of this Marriott is the location – at the far end of town but everything is within a very easy walk. The hotel itself is older: the common areas have a very run down look and feel; the rooms are decent enough but furnishings and fixtures are a bit older and spare. The studio suite is not as large in reality as it appears on the website and as the square footage would have you believe. It is a bit choppy in layout with some wasted space at the entry and then a tight fit in other areas.
The hotel has several major flaws which would cause us not to return to this hotel.
1. The balcony is incredibly tiny and none of the balconies in any rooms at this hotel have any furniture – not even two cheap plastic outdoor chairs. Sitting on the balcony to enjoy the view and the stars was the main reason we chose this Marriott and that was simply a non starter given that you could barely fit two people standing.
2. The hotel lacks air conditioning. Some may say that “oh in the mountains you don’t need it.” Guess what? You do, in the summer. We kept the sliding glass door open all night and there was no breeze or air flow into the room so we hardly slept at all.
3. The hot tubs are part of the pool complex and have no views or privacy, much less a separation from all the children hollering and splashing in the pool. The hot tubs should be separated from the pool itself and all the kids in an “adult only” area for peace and quiet.
4. The parking is in a different building which is about a 5 – 10 min walk. There are signs at each space that say “Marriott Assigned Space” which makes you think that the spaces are reserved and assigned to a specific room. The desk clerk did not make it clear at all that any space is available for a Marriott guest. Also, be sure not to park in the spaces assigned to guests of other hotels.
5. Our card keys frequently did not work and every single time it took five or more tries to get the keys to work and flash the green light. This was incredibly annoying.
6. There are no views to speak of other than a tiny view of the woods and a sliver of the river and mountain.
7. Housekeeping service is expensive and a la carte. If you request “just” trash emptying service, they charge you $10 a day. For a full cleaning, it is $50 a day. REALLY???? At the price of $250 a night, they are going to charge additional fees for housekeeping? I was astonished.
It has a full kitchen that smartly uses the space (dishwasher, frig, stove, microwave) that is well equippped. There is a square table with several chairs that is in the middle of the room. The bed is a queen. The linens and towels are decent quality. The room had a safe in the closet, an iron and ironing board, and a humidifier but no fan or air conditioning.
The desk clerk was snarky and sarcastic. We had to wait several minutes for one to appear any time we needed to speak to someone.
Be aware that this hotel seems to cater to families like several other Marriott vacation club spots. There are kids everywhere.

Zero stars for service
The front desk staff is among the rudest we have encountered in all of our travels.
The rooms are outdated and not very clean.
This may be the norm in Breckenridge, but I have had better service and nicer rooms from Belize City to Montgomery, AL. Marriott should be ashamed to have their name on this place.
3 Rooms to be together, got 3 different buildings
Do NOT use Reservationsdesk.com. I booked 3 rooms to be together well in advance but got in 3 different buildings.
Not good, especially with a disabled person in our party. Marriott blamed Reservationsdesk.com and Reservationsdesk.com blamed Marriott.
They had someone else’s email and phone number with my name when I checked in. Would never have booked had I known we wouldn’t be together.
I really was hoping for a great experience but these vacation club properties are letting me down!
Yes, the location is terrific especially if you are skiing. But, other than that I can’t even describe this property as a resort. No restaurant, no bar, and a configuration that is so confusing and inconvenient it will leave you scratching your head!
Honest, to get to the hot tubs and pool after a long day on the slopes you need to walk outside for what seems like 15 minutes without any robe. They don’t provide them. Rather the desk attendant will instruct you to walk through an underground parking structure! No joke. Then you will find 4 tiny hot tubs with dirty and smelly water and the feeling that you’ve been transferred back to the 70s.
How do owners put up with this?
I mean I’m upset being a platinum Marriott member.
The game room is one building the pool table in another. Weird. The front of the building is basically useless space.
It was quiet the whole week we were there. It should have been hopping.
First day we were there we noticed dirty dishes on a chair by elevator and popcorn all over the floor.
Come back later to see dishes picked up my housekeeping but they didn’t vacuum! Who does that? Come on Marriott you’re better than this
Run the other way. No accountability of management.
This is probably the worst Marriott property we’ve ever stayed at.
This is saying a lot given we’re Platinum members.
We called ahead (by 4 hrs) , arrived ahead (by 1.5 hrs) and were told since we were early they would get housekeeping working on the room. Check-in time arrived and no room.
Checked again and were told another 30-45 minutes because the room was being “inspected to make sure it has enough coffee creamer”.
Which anyone who’s ever stayed in any hotel, let alone stayed in numerous of the same chain of hotels knows this is ludicrous.
We were given many excuse from the “manager” Chris and never an apology of any kind.
He was rude and condescending asking if we had actually stayed at a Marriott of this “type”.
Will never recommend and will never stay again. Pretentious and zero accountability to serve the loyal customer.
Marriott only in Name
I found this hotel (oh! excuse me, vacation resort) on Marriott’s website, listed right next to the other Marriotts in the area.
We expected, therefore, to experience Marriott’s quality of hotel, but we were sorely disappointed.
We called ahead on our day of arrival, asking to check in early, and were told that once we arrived the staff would begin getting our room ready but that there was no way to guarantee anything before 4 pm. I thought that strange, because in the past Marriott has been more than accommodating with early check-ins.
When we arrived at noon, we told the front desk that we were there in order for them to get our room ready. Two and a half hours later, while our groceries were spoiling, they had yet to inform us if the room was ready.
The front staff (in particular Claire) was very rude and spiteful, seemingly unfazed that their lackluster service was the source of the plethora of displeased customers who had been ignored as we were.
Whenever I asked when it was to be ready they would claim to go check, and then would never give me an update.
Eventually they let us in our room, and we come to discover that the check-out time is 10 am! We were both shocked with the lack of care, and throughout the trip we found the room tired, the bed extremely lumpy and uncomfortable, and the staff mostly rude.
Claire in particular was very rude and self-consumed. We will never be staying here again, and I feel as though they should remove Marriott from their name.
Marriott should beware of such “resorts” which are staining their name.
Not what was expected
This place does not live up to the Marriott brand. Room smelled horrible.
Some kind of moldy smell.
Staff inattentive more interested in having their own discussion with each other than service you…the customer.
None of the amenities that I have come to expect at Marriott properties.
Stayed at a Residence Inn the day after and was much more pleased.
Would not suggest staying here.
