Marriott’s Barony Beach Club Timeshare

We have vacationed in Hilton head every summer for the past 20+ years. We paid top dollar for these accommodations and they were old, dated and things didn’t work in the room. When we commented, we were told the rooms were due for renovation this year and it would be better once that was complete. The maid also woke us up every morning at 815a to clean the room even though we asked not to be woken up, we were told she probably didn’t understand what we were telling her. She stood by the elevator and texted and then would bang on our door again by 9 am. Definitely would never return to this property. For the price of over $500 night, it was the biggest rip off I’ve ever paid for a room. We complained and they looked at us with a blank stare…not a Marriott great experience especially for someone who travels extensively and is a diamond level member both at Marriotts and Hiltons. Would never buy a vacation travel package because of this experience here.

I came to this resort with my parents for a nice leisurely stay. Upon check in, the front desk clerk was absolutely rude. She was curt and didn’t give us a chance to ask questions. She shoved a packet in our face and told us where the building was without even looking at us. We were the only ones in the lobby so customer service shouldn’t have been a problem! We requested a top floor, ocean view as gold elite members which was confirmed would be available when the hotel called us a week prior to check in. We were told in a very snippy tone that the entire hotel was booked with owners and the only thing available was first floor. She then turned around and walked away from us, still standing there!! This should have been our first clue to leave!

The room was decent but the furniture is clearly old as it smelled like musty old moth balls. The carpet was soaking wet in the master bedroom which we assumed was due to cleaning the carpets but the rest of the condo was completely dry.

The final straw was waking up at 1:00 a.m. to a very loud motor noise throughout the entire villa. It sounded like a leaf blower or some sort of motorized equipment was going allllll night long. It finally stopped at 6:00 a.m. The noise would get louder and then taper off, louder and then taper off. We also heard talking or a tv playing all night. Needless to say, we are moving to a different marriott resort today!

My family and I travelled to  Marriot  Barony beach through an exchange in Interval International. We were excited to be heading to Hilton Head for the first time. Upon arrival at this resort, we were very disappointed by the size and overall layout of the resort. This resort is very small in comparison to the many others we’ve visited.

They had activities during the day but they were geared towards adults and not young children.

If you are a couple and looking for a getaway this would be good for you. If you are a family this is not a resort for you. Most of the activities centred around adults with wine, beer and other adult activities. The staff was not very friendly or helpful when needed. Our room was not up to par with Marriott standards.

The room was not clean , had mold in bathrooms, pipes made a banging noise when water was running. The water itself I would not drink it had a horrible smell to it.

The furniture looked beat up with scratches, wobbly legs etc. These rooms are in serious need of rehabing. They did have onsight bike rentals which we took advantage off and were able to explore the island.

The Spa was a huge disappointment for this simple reason…my daughter and I decided to tour the spa during one of their open house sessions….the staff was rude to my daughter and did not like the fact she was with me….I think this staff needs to be more open minded to younger girls…after all there are young girls that do get pedi’s and mani’s…..and that is what my daughter was interested in getting…after the reception we received we would not step foot back in there! Spa staff needs to get lower their noses a little bit instead of being stuffy!! I could go on and on.. but will refrain. We will be returning to Hilton Head and loved the island, however, we will be looking to stay at another  Marriott  property, not Barony Beach!!

I just got a call from the friendly staff member at the Marriott Barony in Hilton Head. She so politely told me that my building would be under MAJOR construction during my relaxing vacation in October. Gee thanks! I only made this reservation back in the Spring of this year but thanks for letting me know that there will be Jack Hammers and other noise ALL DAY. This is just another adventure in crappy timeshare ownership with Marriott. I hope they try to sell me more of this junk!
