They rob you with a smile
Visited the hotel in January 2018.
The room price with half board was reasonable, and the hotel is a nice well kept old hotel building.
But, do not go into the bar called SUNSET unless you are prepared to pay LE 389 for one Gin tonic, just the simple cheap gin, Beefeater costs more than the double of in any bar in Europa.
So, if you do not want to get robbed in bright daylight, be careful and stay away from this hotel and the Sunset bar, this is just disgusting and very stupid of the management there.
I never go back to this hotel or any other Marriott hotel that are robbing their customers in bright daylight.
This is the absolute lowest score I can give after 7 years of living on the best hotels around the Red Sea.
I have never been robbed before like this.
Worst experience ever
I had stayed at Hua Hin Marriott from 23-25 March 2018.
The only word I can describe this hotel is what I mentioned in the title. My room was upgraded to deluxe type but the room is adjacent to the restaurant which was noisy all day and very disturbance to my relax day. Hence I rather said my room was downgraded. The noise started from 5 am until midnight.
It was just wasting my time and money to stay at this hotel.
The parking was also big trouble on a busy day, terrible standard and management.
Not recommend at all.
Not come back again ! Poor check in arrangements
During Christmas week, we check on December 25, have to wait three hours from 3pm to 6pm to get a room. Paid US$500 and booked the room two months in advance.
As a member of the Marriott hotel, very disappointing. The front desk manager name Si said the two bedrooms not ready at 2:30 pm and ask me to have afternoon tea at the cafe on the hotel pay. Ok then we have coffee and cake, and then she offers us a one-bedroom to rest until the room is ready. But at 5:30pm , they didn’t call me and I have to check at the front desk again.
The room still not ready and Si just keep saying to offer me a room to rest is very kind. I said I don’t want to wait, it’s already almost 6pm , finally, I have to make an angry statement and she calls the security manager to come . She thinks I have problems, but the problem is you, the hotel. I pay US$500 for a room in Hua Hin Thailand. This is very expensive.
The point is the front desk manager Si doesn’t care who you are, the hotel guest is nothing to them.
Eventually, at around 6pm I got the room.
Never come back to this Marriott, the intercontinental next have a better location.
And Si doesn’t let me take a photo of her name card, but I remember your name. I am also an IHG member, I don’t have to stay in your hotel. Worst experience ever in any Marriott.

Horrible experience as a big chain as Marriott
I am still a guest in the house of this property..
I am travelling a lot, I decided to see Luxor with pass by to Sharm El Sheikh.
As the first time in this place and of course I choice Marriott as a big chain and I am loyalty guest of this hotel property.
First of all, the receptionist Khaled was so rude and unprofessional staff I’ve ever met in my experience in Marriott. Secondly, no-one is not smiling and greeting as per standard.
Thirdly, the room is old and not an expectation as a five star. Restaurant staff you need wait to serve you and wait more than 25min to bring your order as an example still water or Pepsi.. after all, I went to complain to the manager on duty who just answered me with big smile SORRY. no empathy and no resolution with my all issues…
I do not recommend to stay at this hotel.
My opinion you should move Marriott name from this place.
Sharm El Sheikh Marriott Resort
Worst hotel I’ve visited so far First of all, the service is very poor at Marriot mountain we waited for 9 hours and a half in the lobby to get our check-in. The food at the hotel is terrible.
Even though we paid for all inclusive we didn’t get anything we had to pay for many things.
The kitchen is not clean, plates on the buffet were dirty and the food was limited.
The room has a very cheap quality and it’s dirty, a lot of mosquitoes. In addition to all of that, I found a cockroach on my pillow where I’m supposed to sleep on.
No wifi in the hotel.
I called room service to get a robe and slippers they said they didn’t have any in that hotel, I had to go down to the reception to ask for them and they send them to my room, I didn’t really have to do all this if the room service sent them when I asked for them
Private event at this property
If there was an award for the worst run Marriott hotel then this hotel will run the award hands down.
I had a private function and the entire experience was horrible.
The management who run this place should not be in the hospitality industry as they don’t have an ounce of concern for the paying customer.
Even being a Platinum member of the Marriott program didn’t stop the folks who run the place to levels of service you will never expect in the hotel industry. After this experience, I have stopped patronizing the Marriott hotel chain.
There are better hotels in Goa who will offer far greater levels of service then the folk’s running this hotel can ever dream off. So one advice to the folks reading this review, find another place to take your business and you won’t regret it.
Do not stay here! There are rats!
My husband and I stayed here for the three day weekend and were awakened during the night by sounds near the wall.
After assuming the sounds were coming from outside, we went back to sleep. In the morning, however, I heard scampering across the TV stand–and turned on the flashlight on my phone in time to see a rat scampering across the room.
After having the hotel staff search for the rat, we quickly got ourselves ready and mostly packed, in time for the rat or perhaps his brother to resurface and chase us out of the room.
The hotel staff handled the situation very well, and we have no complaints about their service, but a rat problem in a five-star Marriott is simply unacceptable. This, on top of the poor dining offerings, compared to other Marriotts in the country and the generally worn state of the hotel, led us to check out after only one night.
While the hotel staff were excellent, I would caution anyone from spending your precious vacation days or money at the Goa Marriott Resort. It is past its prime and in need of extermination services.
Poor service. The manager knows how to piss off customers.
We booked a room with breakfast for two. Somehow the booking amendments went wrong.
The management offered to give us one breakfast free and pay for two.
My friends were not happy with the service and the leaking sink. The staff came to see about the leak and asked us what time we are checking out. How much can we eat for breakfast to make up for the amendments?
The room is small. We arrived at 1.30pm the check-in time is 4 pm. We were given a so-called upgrade at 2 pm. At check-in, we were lost no guide to inform us how to get to our rooms.
There is no beach.
Over the small issue of simple breakfast makes me give this review a one star.
Definitely won’t stay at Marriott in Miri again.
WORST service+stay, Disgusting room conditions
As a top-tier Marriott rewards member, I frequent Marriott hotels across the world and I can truly say that this is the worst Marriott I have ever stayed into date.
The room conditions are tired, mould can be found in bathroom tile gaps and corners (and around the taps), and the carpet looks and smells older than an ancient haunted castle’s dungeons. I say haunted because the soundproofing is so terrible that every footstep, cough, tap and sound comes right across the hallway and into the rooms.
The pool was not of condition to swim in and on top of that, I had trouble getting to sleep due to the noise of the children screaming at the pool travelling into my room.
Above all, I am absolutely astounded at the service of the hotel staff and will personally be lodging an official complaint to Marriott hotel administration myself.
The trouble started off with a false advertisement from Miri Marriott by stating that the “Mulu National Park” activities were under the HOTEL’s recreational activities.
This conveyed that the hotel was close to Mulu National Park hence my booking for 2 nights. Upon further research, I realised that Mulu was a plane FLIGHT away and had to miss out on my first night of accommodation in order to travel to Mulu.
When I arrived for my second day of accommodation, the hotel staff “Tang” blamed me for misconceiving their false advertisement saying that I should have realised Mulu and Miri were different locations, and when I voiced I was a rewards member and demand to see management, he rudely replied “that isn’t relevant to your complaint but fine, wait here”.
The manager “Roy” barely glanced at us before making us stand at the counter waiting for 20 minutes. When he finally strolled from his office back to the counter he sent us off to our rooms promising he will call us on the matter later but we NEVER received such a call.
Throughout the night and the next day we saw him leisurely chatting and laughing to fellow staff and not looking very concerned to follow up on our request or complaint – we left the hotel the next morning without being contacted and without our issues being resolved. I truly cannot believe a Marriott hotel has provided me with such terrible service.
I have been avoiding Marriott hotels ever since and have not forgotten this bad experience.
Honestly, my first recommendation is to avoid Miri completely, not much to see there anyway.
The second recommendation is to avoid this hotel at any cost.
Stayed here with the family, the resort is very nice. We were invited for a presentation of Marriott. All went ok, but I asked the manager, a guy from Egypt if this was timeshare. This guy I think his name was Hassan or something.
He said that it was not a timeshare. I looked on my mobile and it was.
This manager is very unpleasant, he has disrespected my wife and ignored her completely.
My advice, nice resort but never and I mean never go on their sales presentation. They are liars. This guy even told me that he had no reservation possibilities for August 2014. What kind of hotel is that?
STAY AWAY FROM THEM. HE IS AFTER YOUR MONEY
I visited the Marriott Marbella Beach Resort with a small group of friends on a hen do. On arrival, we were told that the beach resort was operating on winter hours and that none of the bars or restaurants was open past 11.30pm.
We decided to have a few drinks in the bar before heading back to our apartment to eat some supper. Whilst chatting and laughing we received simultaneous phone calls and knocks on the door from staff telling us that we were too loud.
To be clear, we had been talking and laughing – but there was no loud music and there were only 8 of us, separated from any other guests by 2 bedrooms.
The staff at the door were extremely aggressive towards us, as a group of girls, threatening to break the door down and have us escorted off the property by police in handcuffs.
Given the occasion and the level of noise that we were making, their attitude was extremely disappointing and I would not be comfortable staying here in the future.
Lack of hospitality and customer service ruined the whole experience...Go elsewhere
Being an annual guest at the Marriott Dead Sea Resort for 10+ years I was extremely disappointed by the lack of hospitality and care provided by the hotel staff during my last visit.
1. Security at the front gate request their own prices for day-pass entries as they are not published anywhere 2. After shelling out around 200 JODs for a family of 4 (around double the amount I am used to paying at the same hotel), the pool staff refused to ‘grant’ us access to all pools! Stating that some of the pools are for hotel guests only…What are we considered then???
After making a scene and speaking to the ‘manager’, who is just as experienced as my kid was in managing such an operation at a 5-star hotel, for 15 minutes at the entrance of the pool area he finally confessed that it was a huge mess up and lack of knowledge within his team. 3. DJ and family activities at the main pool area were a very bad attempt at something fun.
It actually felt like the sort of cheap resort entertainment you would get at 2/3 star hotel.
Very loud banging speakers with young eastern European girls with no training whatsoever trying to create some sort of family atmosphere by asking you to do the chicken dance in the water…. 4. Outdated decor in the lobby looks like you’ve gone back to the 90s – I think its about time for a change to keep up with international standards and the competition.
The whole experience was quite embarrassing as it was the first time that I brought my family there.
It certainly felt like a 3-star establishment.
Trust me and go next door to the Movenpick or Crowne Plaza, I know I will never go back there again.
Dead Sea Marriott Resort & Spa
Worst Hotel in the Country Disastrous service and facilities should be downgraded to two stars immediately.
The facility is worn out by all means and the service is terribly poor, quality of food is below a budget hotel standard.
In general value for money is probably non-existent as you spend most of your time arguing with staff and management who are not fit to work under the Marriott Brand.
I’m a very easy person in general but my experience here could not just pass merely.
Just checked in as platinum Marriott rewards member. I had in my profile for a high floor.
They checked me in on 4th floor without a good view although it does have a balcony and I did get here 1.5 hours before check-in.
They do cards in order to get a beach towel which seems kind of cheap for a hotel this expensive.
Went to get a towel and they are out of them for at least a half hour. Ice machine broke on 4th floor.
They didn’t explain anything about how to get to the room or any of the kids’ activities at check-in.
Kind of disappointing for a Marriott that is this expensive.
Steer clear rude staff at this outdated resort
Worse experience ever.
My fifth anniversary falls on labour day weekend. I did a lot of research on myrtle beach hotels before deciding to stay at the Marriott Resort and Spa.
We are Marriott members and love their hotel chains, but I will never stay at another Marriott again. Spoke to a lady on the phone to reserve my room for the busy labour day weekend.
I mentioned that there were no rooms available online, but I wanted to call and see if there were any cancellations. She said, yes, they had several cancellations due to the hurricane over the same weekend. She made me a reservation for three nights and kindly upgraded me to an oceanview room. We arrived to the hotel and checked in.
I stayed in the car with the kids while my husband went in to check us in. I asked him to see if there happened to be an oceanfront room and that we would pay to upgrade to that (was willing to spend extra on our anniversary :)) Matt (Peluso?), at the front desk, was rude with upfront.
He checked us into room 213. Said there were no upgrades available.
We go into the room, and notice it is not an ocean view. I call the front desk and state that we were booked for an ocean view.
Lindsey, who picked up said ‘your room is a resort view’. I mentioned the conversation I had with the lady who reserved the room. She said she would call me back.
She called me back to say I made up the whole story. She said we had booked a resort view and her proof was that that the gentleman who checked in asked for an upgrade. She was extremely condescending in her tone.
1. My husband asked for an upgrade from an oceanview to an oceanfront.
2. It is my fifth anniversary. I am not paying top bucks to be at a second-floor room looking out to another roof.
In fact, look at my picture, this is not even considered RESORT VIEW.
It was the second floor- the view is the lack of a roof on the front lobby. We could not see anything else except the dirty roof. This is more like “look at the back of my head view”. Forget the outdated room – the entire place was filthy.
3. Apparently, the resort fees and all are to pay for the excellent amenities, like free towels and the pool.
We went to the towel stand, were told they ran out and to come back in 15min. We returned and they said 30 more min.
After an additional 30 min, they said it would be an additional 30 min. By the time the towels were available, we were hungry and ready for lunch.
4. The game room (which is also an included ‘amenity’ was extremely lacking. The air hockey table was broken.
The air was not enough to move the puck around. The two little handles were broken.
5. The night after this horrible experience, we received a ‘bill’ under our door.
Both my husband and I were confused. We had a reservation for THREE nights.
Why were we receiving our bill after ONE? We called the front desk, it turned out they ‘kindly’ cut our reservation short by one night.
Thank you for ruining our special fifth anniversary.
We scrambled to get our stuff and get out of there and find another hotel we could spend the rest of the weekend in.
We were able to find a very nice spot at Ocean 22. Love and highly recommend.
No more Marriott and their horrible staff for me.
Poor Marriott hotel for elite members - not really a "resort"
Got robbed on this property
I am a platinum member of Marriott Rewards. I have stayed with Marriott for 390 nights over 4 years. We stayed in this property in April 2018 – our money was robbed from our room by the room service.
We reported this incident to the hotel staff but they merely said “from now on, you can deal with our insurance company”
As a platinum member with Marriott, I am NEVER staying at any Marriott Property, SPG is the way to go In addition, the shuttle is very inconvenient- you have to work your entire day around the shuttle.
If you miss it, be ready to pay 90 euros for a 20 Min ride. Not worth the money. You are also likely to get robbed
