Checked into chayofa Thursday 5th July 2018 at 23:40pm.
Checked into room B2, opened the door and was horrified to see large and small cockroaches in the room.
No one on site to help until the next morning (9:00am ) Awful.
Just given away our timeshare and lost thousands !!
The place is about 5 kms from the sea, the resort is tired, and not the easiest to get to without a car.
We had a 3 bedroomed villa with private pool which we paid thousands for, after our first visit we left a fair review, then the rough time started, the reply called us liars from a so-called manager called Sean, who we meet while out there.
We rang to speak to him and was told he was considering his options against us!!! for leaving a review he did not like?? We were told he would call us to discuss, NEVER CALLED, so we have handed back the place as we feel this guy will not be nice if we went back.
My advice ?? give this a place a wide berth, and never constructively make any negative commnets
The rudest receptionist in Europe
In this Chayofa 1980’s throwback to the halcyon day’s of timeshare, we witnessed the most incompetent and rude receptionist ever. Her attitude made us wonder – should we laugh? Is she for real?
Such gems as “we don’t give tv remote controls, as you should be outside” and “you are not making me happy enough to smile” sum her up. Daily she got worse.
The basic if clean accommodation saved us when our Airbnb accommodation fell through.
Now though, I know why they had spaces at this busy half term. Never again. Like. Ever.
Booked this hotel through RCI timeshare as a present for family members anniversary.
On arrival apartment was dirty, window shutters broken, fridge broken, cockroaches in the apartment, overall dirty.
Not what expected from RCI resort.
Would not recommend this hotel, and pictures on the website are not accurate.
Well maintained and clean but tired old timeshare development
It’s all relative and we (2 kids 9 and 10 years old and 2 adults) were basically pretty happy here on our holiday Dec 2014, but the, well I’m not sure what you call it? resort? timeshare? was probably built in the 80’s, and was now showing its age, bathrooms/kitchens furniture has all seen much better days and decades! no dishwashers, onsite washing machine (4 euros a pop). Our apartment looked nothing like the pictures on the website.
It was very well maintained however and the staff were very friendly ( i guess that’s what RCI do with all of the money they collect in weekly maintenance fees from timeshare owners).
A few things to note:
The sofa bed in the living room would have broken any normal size adult and was really unusable, luckily it was the kids in there and they couldn’t care less.
The pool is unheated in December even though the temperature was 24/25 Celsius by around midday, the pool was properly freezing as if the water was piped in from mount Tiede itself! I swam almost every day in the sea which was lovely at around 19 Celsius.
The is an active tennis club which offers coaching and appears to be very popular.
In the village ( not really a village but a load of Villas built on a hill in the 80’s (I guess) There is an English style pub, a Tapas bar, and a large meat grill restaurant; The tapas bar was great and very good value, the grill meat restaurant had a good reputation, looked great and we heard good things from other guests, we didn’t visit the pub because we are British and it feels all wrong going to a pub in Spain, but each to their own.
The restaurant in the timeshare resort was by every account very very poor, we never actually ate there though.
If you want to use the resort and its facilities like a resort, enjoying relaxing around the pool etc. then I would suggest looking at a resort with a heated pool.
If you want to use the resort as an accommodation base and you have a car to explore the amazing Island that Tenerife is then it could work for you, its just old and tired.
Misleading Information On website
We stayed in a 2bedroom apartment 8th jan/15th Jan. It was booked privately through holiday lettings. Please note that Zorro’s is now closed will not be opening again, also throughout our whole stay, the restaurant was closed. you have a choice of 5 different dishes from the bar which is quite overpriced.
There is no shop on site, there was once but now closed, and if you haven’t hired a car you are in trouble as there are no local shops, and I mean no shops. you either have to jump a bus or walk uphill, where you will find a small garage. I came across an ice cream freezer in the bar area, when I went to purchase an ice cream, the freezer was full with various meats. God help you – if you on a late flight, and want some water etc to take to room.
Gym was shut , they had very bad storms etc. Entertainment was just for one night, a singer, that was it, for this complex. Very very disappointing.
If you are stuck here for the week unless you like sitting in a cold apartment this place will not be for you. cabs were 7 to 10 euros to go to los christainos. All I seem to see everyday was staff trying to sell timeshares.
As for the apartment we stayed in, the weather was not very good even so, I think it is a must that these apartments have some type of heating, the place was freezing of an evening, if we didn’t venture down to Los Cristianos we were cuddled up with the blankets from both beds on us to keep warm. We had a 2 bedroom apartment, whilst the living room and kitchen area were nice the bathrooms were very dated, baths were both very badly stained and the seeming towel rails plus handles were full of rust and very very dirty looking.
Obviously, we showered or bathed but felt quite dirty afterwards, also the shower itself was full of rust.. very disappointed.
The maids and staff that ran the bar were very sweet, no faults there. Area again around the pool lovely and clean.
As a complex and what your advertisement states it is nothing like what it states.
you guys need to update your website and delete all the things that are supposed to be on site but are not.
I hope people will read this review, I normally put good comments on holidays/areas where I have stayed but not this time.
Very very disappointing holiday, would not return.
Paul Martin – put some heaters in your place.
Agrressive Hard Selling Reps
Will not return due to hard selling sales reps with aggressive behaviour, who take over the pool area every day!
We booked a weeks stay at the Chayofa Country Club via a KGB deal at £69.00 (after our experience there, we would not return for free)! Although it appeared to be a bargain price, it was a big mistake, as a 90 min orientation meeting during our stay, was expected of us. We agreed to the 90 min meeting which was supposed to be about holiday promotions, excursions etc. when in actual fact it was a hard selling timeshare meeting!
To cut a long story short… they were trying to sell us a holiday voucher for accommodation all over the world but at a price and we weren’t interested whatsoever! When we told them we had no interest and that we were leaving the meeting after 90 mins, the rep (Ian) brought in one of his managers who was very aggressive and told us that we could not leave the meeting, although we had been there the time stipulated on the KGB voucher.
We did get up to leave and he said that he would ‘bill us’ so we asked him to do so.
The manager must’ve thought that he could make our stay longer because of his threats!
What he didn’t understand was that we are neither vulnerable or gullible people who will be bullied by this type of behaviour and therefore left the meeting. To top it all, a different manager followed us to the pool area and wanted to chat about the situation but again we weren’t interested in what he had to say so walked away from him too. I wouldn’t recommend a meeting with these reps and think that more transparent information should be offered on the deals so that customers aren’t misled!
On a more positive note, the hotel staff were lovely, especially Paco, on reception, who was really helpful. The hotel & surroundings are fine if you want a quiet holiday in an area that has limited restaurants, one expensive supermarket and very dated rooms. The whole complex needs some TLC & a makeover.
The pool area looks very attractive and would be more inviting if the sales reps weren’t taking up all the tables & seats every day. They are there from 10 am until approx. 6/7pm. There had been some other complaints about their behaviour.
We had a car so was able to drive to Los Cristianos & Las Americas so we made the most of our stay.
We holiday in Tenerife on a regular basis and have tried quite a few of the hotels and apartments there and can honestly say that we will not be staying at Chayofa in the future.
One last thing… do not pay for the wifi, as it isn’t accessible in the apartment and it is free (on your own device) in the reception/bar area
